It's their first U.S. television appearance in 10 years. Be sure to tune in tonite. They're going to play Tom Sawyer.

Yeah, I think at 8:30 ET.

Canadian rock will collide with American values as the band Rush appears on The Colbert Report tonight to perform their megahit "Tom Sawyer."

Man, outside of Rush's performance, that was incredibly painful to watch...what a horrible f**king show. Now I know what I don't watch it...he's a dumbass!!

However...YEAH!! Rush! That had to be SOOOO painful for Neil, he hates that kind of thing and is soooo shy and I can't believe Alex was so quiet, he is usually the outspoken one!

Wow. You must be out of your mind. He's one of the funniest, most brilliant people on TV right now.

This may be the dumbest comment I've ever seen on this forum. The two bands are nothing alike, musically, personally, or whatever.

Quote HH-"Nickel and Dime" from Journey's 3rd. album "Next" was brutally ripped off by Rush to create "Tom Sawyer," that launched their career. ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tYSeyqaJmQ Nickel and Dime.

I think that backs up my statement rather well! Although I probably should have said rip offs instead of wannabes.

Dude I respect most of your posts, comments, and opinions but this one is.... well, silly.

ONE "ripped/stolen" riff for ONE song, out of hundreds, doesn't make Rush, Journey wannabes. They had gained their "legs" far before "Tom Sawyer" and have carried on since with many good albums and some of the greatest works rock music has seen..

I don't have a dog in this fight, but the show blows. I've watch it a few of times and I think I laughed once. Stewart's is the same way.

That's because you're a conservative. I think Limbaugh and Hannity are hysterical as well, but that's because 95% of what they're saying is complete bullshit or outright fabrication.

Honestly, that has nothing to do with it. I actually enjoy some of the Bush bashing, etc. but I don't think he's good. I can occassionally laugh at Maher but not Colbert. Even Jon Stewart I laugh at on a rare occassion, but Colbert really doesn't do anything for me. I think I laughed one time watching him.

And I would agree with you if the one song wasn't Arguably their biggest hit. However to be fair, I can't stand Rush, so I would probably find another reason to trash them anyway :)

Hey did I tell you that I had a buddy trick me into liking a song by Disturbed? He played me their Genesis cover and it blew my mind. He's gonna give me the 10,000 Fists album, straight-up... so I'm gonna have to check this out. LOVE their "Land of Confusion."
