The rerecords are what Arnel brought to the table whether he was sick or not. It's not live, if he had a cold or something they can fix that, look what they did with Trial By Fire. Things that Arnel can improve on are self confidence, dictation and stage presence. God is not going to zap him with 1970's SP vocal chords. He's 40 years old, he didn't hold anything back on the rerecords. He gave it all he had so he wouldn't have to suffer a one way ticket back to Manila. He probably understood that just because they said he had the gig didn't mean shit if he doesn't put out a sellable product.

Yeah, I know ...
That album is out now so it has to be taken for what it is.

What I mean is ...
When you got a cold, you sound different right?
There's somethin' wrong somewhere and you don't sound the same as without a cold.

Correct me if I am wrong guys!
I thought that a commercial release would always sound better compared to live ones,
because of studio tweaking involved, while when live its done raw.

How come I'm hearing these reviews saving Pineda sounding better during the live concerts?

That's the nature of Journey Music
Half of the songs on Captured sound better then their studio counterparts. A lot of it may be famialrity from singin the songs numerous times and the extra rush of performing in front of people. Neal likes to tour, Studio work is more of a chore for him it seems so maybe that is noticable difference there.

I said it when it came out, and I'll say it again:
The retreads are some fucking hideous shit,
except OTY, maybe WCN, and maybe 2 others.

I have two big problems with disc 2.

1) It was done in haste and it certainly shows.

2) The track selection, while probably their biggest hits, left me flat, with the exception of Only The Young, Wheel In The Sky, and Stone In Love. The rest of them, I either don't like, or am sick to death of.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

It's strange but the two songs he is known for, Faithfully and Don't Stop Believin, are the two remakes
I really don't like. It sounds like they're using instruments from K-Mart.

LOL! I doubt it. People know I was more a fence sitter on this than most. Where I'm in deep shit, is over at the annex!!

C'mon, Frank theres some good smart people over there that will understand. Theres probably only one person over there thats going to label you a traitor and he's being exposed for what he is...all talk and no action, its not like he can do anything to ya, and the others know where your coming from.

I'm still trying to listen to it myself and i guess i got spoiled by how much of Neals guitar was on the last 3 releases ,theres some good songs but they are lacking Neals trademark sound, which makes it hard to Really get into the cd.

That's a load of crap. Everyone I've ever met at the Annex is nothing but genuine, straight talking, honest people. The vilifying and the allowing of villifying the of people over there is nothing short of complete and utter hogwash. They're entitled to their opinions as are the fans here...

First, Yes Crap. No one at the Annex deserves the shit they get from certain people here.

Secondly, my statement was quite tongue in cheek. I wasn't at all implying any level of seriousness....I'm sorry that was misinterpretted.

I still haven't played the 2nd disc. I have no desire to.
The samples that were posted pre-release were enough to turn me off.

I guess no one over here deserves some of the comments you have made at your site as a generalization either(or others for that matter), it goes both ways, All I'm saying is you can't come over here and play "do as i say not as i do" and expect that someone wouldn't question it.

Big difference. If you're going to play a 'door swings both ways' I can dredge up FAR more generalizations that you make here than *anything* you can pull off of my site...so shove it.

Also, there's another big difference. *You* were making a specific veiled attack regarding one person...someone whom I feel has been vilified here...I then followed up with a comment regarding gross generalizations regarding annexians made by *some* (i.e. not pointing fingers at you) of the people here. If you took offense to that, it speaks more to what you think of yourself instead of what I think of you.

I didn't take offense to anything (i'm not the one telling others to shove it, this sounds more like your the one who is offended, whereas my comment was a devils advocate approach),I meerly pointed out that what you do at your site is no different than what was done here , whether its picking one person or grouping a bunch of individuals its still the same thing.

I didn't take your generalizations as pointing the finger at me,i havent done anything wrong to the annex, why would i take it that way. Don't let your anger get the best of you, my comment was as much tongue and cheek as yours.

You seem quite sensitive about the annex, i'm not sensitive about it so i dont see how you would think i would take offense to anything you said. I thought intelligent debate was encouraged here(not that telling people to shove it really belongs here) but i find that for the most part you offer intelligent debate...a little angry at times but intelligent nonetheless.
