I spent last summer in North Carolina, so know all about summers in the south. They SUCK! I was simply making the point at this present time, it's every bit as hot here as it is there. The difference here is that we actually get some days in the summer where the high temperature doesn't exceed 75 degrees. You can actually go outside and enjoy summer...the way things are supposed to be!

Africa hot here in Arkansas too.
A hundred degrees + high humidity make it difficult for a lot of people.
I kinda like it actually.

Longview, by chance? Or maybe Tyler?

I'll be in Longview from this Saturday through next Sunday, August 3rd, on a visit to my son and three grandbabies.

I've been in "sunny" Southern California my whole life, but I don't do well with oppresive, Texas-level heat. As a rule, I basically "live" in shorts and a t-shirt at all times, so, short of going naked (and NO ONE wants to see that, lol), the only relief I get while I'm in Texas is sitting in an air-conditioned room.

We're going to Six Flags in Arlington on Wednesday and possibly the zoo in Tyler on Thursday...those trips are both gonna be a serious bitch for me. But I can't wait to see the kids, and I'll make up for any discomfort by consuming as much barbecue as I can hold while I'm there...

South of Longview, in Livingston. Same kind of country. Six Flags is gonna be sweltering! The zoo's aren't as bad, at least they have some trees. Barbecue and seeing the grandbabies make up for that though.

Hurricane Harbor is next door and owned by the same people, so maybe they'll honor the Six Flags tickets and JR can go there instead. I agree, Six Flags will be a hot one, but I've done it and there are lots of places to find shade. It's not that bad. Plus, when it's good and hot like that, the lines are shorter.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

As a fellow Bostonian who is, unfortunately, still relegated to the culturally challenged southern town of Charlotte, I would have to say that the drawback of those tolerable summers are the absolutely miserable, intolerable winters. I miss them about as much as Charlie Sheen misses the Clap.
