I think the songwriting is strong, the musicianship is excellent--I really like it. It doesn't eclipse "Escape" for me, as that album was big when I was in high school and you can't duplicate the memories that I have of that whole time, but yeah, a good effort. 7/8

Tried listening to the re-records again today. I hate them more and more I listen to them. The sound quality, the diction, etc.... horrible! As for disc 1, I've already gotten bored with most of it. Never Walk Away and After All These Years I can listen to over and over again. Really dig After All These Years. I can listen to Change for the Better, but that's about it. It's a 5 for me. I see no Zune player in my future...

Yeah, the Retreads, uh, not so much. I think they sound hurried and half assed production wise.

I gave it a 7. If they could have packed in a faux leather cd wallet or some other useful goodie instead of the re-records or DVD I would have been happier, though it would still be a 7 to me. Some of the songs end with an off note as Arnel doesn't seem to adlib very well with extra falsetto notes at the end of songs. I may be nitpicking but that irks me. Still it's a good setlist which mixes well with my evening jog music.

Went with a 7 as well. Better production than some of the previous two or three releases, but sounds a bit too much like Arrival for me to go any higher. I do think TDTWT is one of their best songs they've penned in quite a while. Am looking forward to hearing some stuff once AP has the opportunity to have influence with the writing.

I think it's a classic. I rate it up there with Escape and Frontiers. Third in that rank, but it's still up there. Such a good combination of songs that are, except for one, really, really strong. I'm one of the few that like the redone version of FITH better than the Generations version.

At first I gave it a 7...but there's very little longevity here...and there's only three or four tracks I can imagine listening to again. I'd give it a 6 now.

C'mon show yourself and justify just why you think every single song on the release sucks ass. For anyone to rate it as a 1, means every single song is shit.
Can't believe any fan of the band Journey would rate it as a 1, unless of course they are either stuck in timewarps, or its all political crap, and have let the ongoings of the past few years dictate their minds without even listening to the thing properly.
No true fan would rate this as a 1. Its Journey for christ sake.
I wouldn't even rate 'Generations' a 1, as there are a couple of goodies in there.

Oh i rated it a 7 at first, and still rate it the same. Its a good album, very good at times.

Totally Agree those are the only 2 that really caught my ears and have added to my playlist

I could do without the rest and the retreads have been history since i bought the album and shredded the retreads wouldnt even listem to them

If someone would rate it as a 1, then there is no way they could rate Frontiers or Escape higher then 5, as, besides the use of a different singer there just isn't enough difference between albums to justify such a disparaging drop in rank ( Now if you think all Journey albums sucked after the bands first 3 releases, than maybe your rating would make sense.)

I give it an 8 overall. I've cooled a bit on What I Needed and What It Takes To Win, never cared much for Like a Sunshower. Rest of the disc is very good and the DVD is good but I just hate abridged performances. It sucks to see Schon's LP magically turn into a Strat because they cut to Lights.

My favourite track is Never Walk Away. It was my favourite on first hearing and it still is. It's catchy and I love it.

I also really like Change For The Better, Wildest Dream and Turn Down The World Tonight. These tracks will probably be on any compilation CD I make.
And when I first heard Turn Down The World Tonight it sounded like a Meatloaf song to me. I still think that - but I like it a lot.

I find After All These Years a bit corny, but it's ok. Also Where Did I Lose Your Love is ok. As is What I Needed and What It Takes To Win - but I get a bit bored half way through them. I think Arnel's voice has a grittiness and rasp to it on What It Takes To Win that is different to his other vocals. I like that.

I don't really care much for Like A Sunshower.
The Revelation still sounds like what Brian May used to play while Freddie was off stage getting changed into his next costume.
The European bonus track Let It Take You Back is ok, too. And don't ask me why but it reminds me of Billy Joel.
Faith In The Heartland is my favourite Augeri era song [along with Higher Place] so I prefer the original.

I think this album is way way better than Arrival but Escape is still my favourite. [But I also like ROR and TBF, so most of you guys will poo poo my opinion because of that! ]

I still haven't played the re-records CD. Nor shall I.

I voted Classic for the reason that I think there are a least 4 tunes that are possible hits AATY, NWA,CFTB and TDTWT. The first 2 are already becoming staples and I hope that TDTWT becomes one also.

I think we have to wait a few years before we can give a record Classic status. I'm not sure that a small handful of songs which might be hits in the future is quite enough....

It's not so much an echo of angelic voices (although Deen has decent harmonies here), as it is Arnel's dynamic lower-register operatics.... THAT is what brings to recall the Meatloaf comparisons.
