ConversationPC- The only difference I noticed was Perry sang the scale backward at the end of Faithfully. Very different from the original. Still very good. He adapted is the way I see it. Maybe it was 4-5 nights in a row, who Knows? The band was fine, but definitely not Journey !

When did you see Steve in concert

Postby artist4perry » Tue Jul 22, 2008 6:01 pm

In 1983 in Memphis Tenn, the Mid south colloseum Frountiers
In 1986 same city same place ROR
Both great Shows. I can blame both concerts on a portion of my hearing loss! And my undying devotion to SP's music.

He can call me "Anytime at all!"

Sadly only one show, Day on the Green, Oakland CA with Bryan Adams, Nightranger, Eddie Money, Triumph, July 30 1983, 25 years ago next week. Journey and Perry were fantastic. In 86 I think I figured Id seen them and Bryan Adams so skipped it...wasn't as passionate about every band then. I was on cruise ships during FTLOSM...darn. Journey were always there, had no idea 86 would be it.

You'll have to bring that book down the next time, Kim. :) I've only seen SP once & that was Evolution tour '79 in Houston...I mentally kick myself every time I think about missing it all after that.

Crap, the closest place I could go to see a concert was Memphis Tenn, or Little Rock during the late 70's, early 80's, and guess where my parents would Not allow me to go! :( I had to wait till I turned 20? and I was dating an older guy who bought me tickets and he had to privately convince my mom I would be alright and safe. He even had some friends come as chaperones to make her feel better. She still spazzes   -Anyway Lora, I would have loved to have seen some of the old shows, that you guys got to see. Would have been nice, but I survived missing them. TG for You Tube!

I should scan the photo - someone was behind me taking a picture of Steve talking to me....I'll try to scan it. I'll tell the story, it's too late right now to get into it. I wrote it up as a post on the old AOL board and it was read during one of the SPIN phone messages! LOL! Those were the days......

1983 Frontiers Tour
Orlando, Florida
Tangeringe Bowl Stadium
60,000+ sold out

Opening bands:
Aerosmith, Sammy Hagar and Bryan Adams

Great show - Perry was sporting a pencil-thin moustache.

Saw them again w/ Augeri on the Arrival tour, I enjoyed that show even more then the SP-fronted Journey.

Only one concert
Think it was May 84
Frontiers with Bryan May
NAssau Coliseum
LI NY

I don't really remember much of the cconcert
It seemed more of like a dream.
All I remember was the parking lot afterward
Yeah again

I went with Barbara my Pysch partner in her yellow Karman Ghia
We hung out in the parking lot til it got clear to get out.
Two guys came up to us
We talked
they gave us each a journey t shirt
it was lavendar tie dye with reddish letters
We ended up going somewhere after.

Barbara really hit it off with one of them & they sort of left us.
I was just glad that they were normal guys as they were perfect strangers.
The one she left me with was a gentleman & we talked
I liked the quiet gentleness about him
He was thin very tall with dark wild hair & eyes
I was happily surprised when the 2 guys showed up at a graduation party & Donald showed up with her at graduation
That was the last I saw of them

We lost touch after college
but I found out later Barbars married Donald...
How cool is that to find your love at a Journey concert...

ROR tour- Louisville, KY. It was, sadly, the only one I saw. Had tickets to FTLOSM but he got ill and had to cancel.
The ROR was great though. I saw him minutes before the lights went out pacing around backstage before they went on.
