New song in the vein of Foreigner!

Postby G.I.Jim » Mon Jul 28, 2008 3:22 pm

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to put out, that I just posted a brand new song on Myspace. It's called "Losing You", and it's very similar to Foreigner's style. I recorded the vocals really quick tonight (so you'll have to excuse them), but I'll re-record them tomorrow night, and re-post. I had to get a quick version down for the copyright, and get it off! I hope some of you enjoy it.

Definitely has the Foreigner vibe musically. The vocals remind of someone but I can't place them, maybe Lou Reed or Warren Zevon. I just don't know. I do like it though.

Thanks everyone! I know it sounds a lot like "Cold as Ice", as I was jamming on that song when I started playing around with this song. I just listened to it again with fresh ears, and am embarrassed by the quality of it! I'm getting ready to work on it more tonight, and I'm probably going to change a few things on it. I'll keep you posted, and again... thanks for the compliments!

Well... I just spent several hours doing everything over from scratch, and added a lot of stuff in here. It sounds 100 times better now! I hope you like the new version, and for those wanting to hear a longer version... enjoy! I just can't wait to get a real vocalist on this song.

Here's the new and improved "losing You".

Dude, I love it. That keyboard riff is definitely Foreigneresqe. You do the guitar also? Great song Jim.

Thanks Rick! Yeah, I play "guitar" on my keyboards. I can get it pretty close to the real sound. Some of my tracks have real tracks laid down by a couple of friends of mine, but I write all of my own guitar parts. I'd play them myself, but I don't play enough to play without the slop! Once I get close to finished with this project, I'll have a guitarist from Atlanta play all the guitars. He's an awesome talent, and he's shared the stage with Steve Vai! Can't wait.

Holy shit, I had no idea that was from your keyboard. That's even more amazing. Great work.

Sorry man,

You'll have to wait a couple of more weeks on that one! I just finished re-recording and mixing the vocals AGAIN on "Losing You" for the last time! I remixed the guitars also, and I'll leave it as it is until I get another vocalist onboard. I think it sounds a lot better now (I had a lot more rasp in my vocals tonight) and I think it flows much smother now. Hope you like it!

Thanks! Yeah, "Rumor's Out" is going to be re-recorded and used for one of my overseas projects. You'll definitely be hearing that one before too long! Lec Zorn (from the Lec Zorn Project) has asked me about using my song "Melinda" also. I'm not sure when we'll be recording though... he's still building his studio. Hopefully by this fall, I'll be making a road trip to his house to have some songwriting sessions. It should be a lot of fun!
