Let me preface my comments by saying that Journey's music is more personal to me than The Eagles music. That said, the bands should NEVER be mentioned in the same breath. Aside from their Wal-Mart deals, they have NOTHING in common. The Eagles are an all-time legendary band (whether you like them or not). Journey (in spite of what all of us think of them) are just another has-been, 80's band, playing the nostalgia circuit!

The one lesson I wish Journey would have learned (and I include Schon, Perry, and Friga) from the Eagles is putting their egos aside, and making it about the music. It is VERY well known in the industry that Don Henley and Glenn Frey are not, and never have been the best of friends. Their interview on 60 Minutes earlier this year was almost uncomfortable to watch. They made it very clear during that interview that they owed it to their fans to co-exist, in the interest of their fanbase, and I applaud them for that!

The singers in The Eagles can still sing. Perry can't tour, dude.

You're correct...they can ALL still sing, and well! I never suggested that Perry could tour, SJ. He can't and hasn't had any desire to in eons. Anyone who truly believes that Perry, at almost 60 years old, is going out there to sing this freakin' impossible catalog is fucking delusional! My comment was more directed toward a time (long ago) when I believe that Perry could have still toured, but allowed the rift between he and Schon to lead him to the rocking chair

Care to share the proff on that rif?

You know, I've heard those stories for years, but never have seen facts.

Not saying it's not true now, but would really like to see some facts..you know inquiring minds (or nosy peeps) need to know.

I've also heard it stated on this board that Perry said to Neal's mom that he was not touring any longer because of his failng voice.

Dude...if you seriously need "proff" of the rift between Neal and Perry, then you know NOTHING about the history of this band. Hell, Perry has been quoted in very recent interviews that he "doesn't get along with Neal". I'm not sure what more "proff" you need

nutz4Neal wrote: You know, I've heard those stories for years, but never have seen facts.

Maybe Neal and Perry can get into a celebrity boxing match for you to help validate all of this rampant "speculation"

nutz4Neal wrote: Not saying it's not true now, but would really like to see some facts

Get your head out of the sand, and read the "facts" all around you. If you seriously believe that the rift between Neal and Perry is just something made up, you are CLUELESS! I'm pretty sure that Neal has taken public shots at Perry, just in the past 60 days!

nutz4Neal wrote: I've also heard it stated on this board that Perry said to Neal's mom that he was not touring any longer because of his failng voice.

I'm not even sure what this has to do with anything. I personally didn't need Neal's mommy to tell me that

WOW, why all the anger..I just asked you a simple question. Never meant to get your bowls in such an uproar.

Yeah, I know there have been issues between Schon and Perry, but don't know that's the reason Perry hasn't toured, especially with Journey. And don't know all that's involved either.

I've read / heard many rumors and thought maybe you knew something I didn't. Forget it.

True enough....but nowdays the video is becoming a major selling tool once again thanks to YouTube on other online broadcast sites. The artist gets to avoid dealing with labels/eMpTV/VHnone and broadcast and promote themselves....to a worldwide audience and on demand. Brilliant...

JSS is making a bunch of clips from his upcoming solo album, so no reason why a band like Journey with a shitload of cash couldn't have made 2 or 3 clips.

Because they are "older than crap".

No way you can "spit shine" Neal and Co. up enough to make them look "cool".

They're approaching "Rolling Stones" territory in the "looks" dept.

Except for Friga he looks dashing in his "Pirates of the Caribbean" attire. They should redo the Seperate Ways video, but have have the Whale nailed to the wall while Friga fakes playing while some dude in drag walks past the band with a 80 s hair do booooooing

Dude...it's nothing personal, at all. I can assure you that I'm not remotely "angry". I am just stunned that ANYONE would actually suggest that everything is just wonderful between Perry and Schon, when Schon takes public shots at Perry, whenever given the opportunity! Like I said dude...Nothing personal, AT ALL! Just simply making the point that the whole world knows that these guys can't stand each other, and it's truly sad, in my opinion! I'll try to keep my bowls and bowels more in control

Usually the label foots the bill on videos. And since the label is technically Wal-Mart, probably wasn't budgeted for. Just a guess. Plus all of the previous video's suck, so not anything I'd look forward to.[/quote]

wal mart is not the label, journey themselves are the label, so they would have to foot the bill.
vh1 classic does a classic /current type
but they would be better off just letting outlets use live footage.

It is amazing how much "I heard from someone, who heard from someone, who heard from someone, who heard from someone" type stuff gets presented on forums like these.

I've also seen people who've made things up deliberately to see just how far it could actually go down the rumour mill.

Yes and while we're at it, Steve Perry told me personally that he was no longer touring due to his management constantly sticking him in hotels that were in proximity to nothing but Waffle Houses and Chevron stations. Give that guy a nice Courtyard Marriott or Doubletree and we might be back in business here.

No point in spending money on a video that no one will see. Where on TV could one see a new Journey video?

They already have video footage (from the bonus DVD) of a few of the new songs that they can use for online (Youtube, etc) promotion if they want. The only people who would watch an actual music video of a new Journey song are diehards who presumably already have the album.
