Why are Journey avoiding shooting videos???

The Eagles are getting ariplay on country video shows. The Eagles have a much wider fan-base. Journey is a one tick pony with no place to go video wise.

Let me preface my comments by saying that Journey's music is more personal to me than The Eagles music. That said, the bands should NEVER be mentioned in the same breath. Aside from their Wal-Mart deals, they have NOTHING in common. The Eagles are an all-time legendary band (whether you like them or not). Journey (in spite of what all of us think of them) are just another has-been, 80's band, playing the nostalgia circuit!

The one lesson I wish Journey would have learned (and I include Schon, Perry, and Friga) from the Eagles is putting their egos aside, and making it about the music. It is VERY well known in the industry that Don Henley and Glenn Frey are not, and never have been the best of friends. Their interview on 60 Minutes earlier this year was almost uncomfortable to watch. They made it very clear during that interview that they owed it to their fans to co-exist, in the interest of their fanbase, and I applaud them for that!

They have a video now for Never Walk Away- It's the live shot from the DVD. VH1 can use ANY of that stuff. Are they? Nope. Mtv and VH1 don't care enough to play videos. They interfere with their "reality" (my a$$) shows.

True enough....but nowdays the video is becoming a major selling tool once again thanks to YouTube on other online broadcast sites. The artist gets to avoid dealing with labels/eMpTV/VHnone and broadcast and promote themselves....to a worldwide audience and on demand. Brilliant...

JSS is making a bunch of clips from his upcoming solo album, so no reason why a band like Journey with a shitload of cash couldn't have made 2 or 3 clips.

Dude...it's nothing personal, at all. I can assure you that I'm not remotely "angry". I am just stunned that ANYONE would actually suggest that everything is just wonderful between Perry and Schon, when Schon takes public shots at Perry, whenever given the opportunity! They already have video footage (from the bonus DVD) of a few of the new songs that they can use for online (Youtube, etc) promotion if they want. The only people who would watch an actual music video of a new Journey song are diehards who presumably already have the album.
