From Andrew's front page.....and please note our very own KPOTY Eric Ragno (ChynaBlue) is involved with this project too. Eric is one hardworking guy and a helluva nice one too!

can't wait to hear this collaboration of Josh's harder edge combined with Hugo's great melodic voice and Eric's amazing keyboard work. :D

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of the debut album from the highly anticipated new Melodic Rock union between guitarist Josh Ramos and vocalist Hugo entitled The Dream on October 10.
On the heels of his successful Ramos debut solo album Living In The Light, Josh Ramos, former guitar player of The Storm and Two Fires and now shredder for Hardline, started looking for a new suitable vocal partner who could offer his songs the right, heavenly and soaring element that could sparkle them to the next level. The opportunity came through when the amazing Hugo, well known solo artist and former singer of Open Skyz and Valentine, accepted the invitation to come and work on the vocal melodies and sing on the new songs.
Hugo and Josh therefore teamed up with famed bassist and producer Fabrizio Grossi (Glenn Hughes) in Los Angeles who hooked them up with keyboardist Eric Ragno (ex Takara) and John Macaluso (Riot, Starbreaker, Malmsteen etc) on drums and they helped laying down all the tracks for the album. The album mix was taken care by Dennis Ward (PC 69) at his studios in Kalrsdorf, Germany.
“It was great to have Hugo singing and writing on this album” says Josh Ramos, “He did a great job, a lot of Journey fans are going to love it and also hear a side to Hugo's singing that they haven't heard before. Maybe we will be able to perform together at some point!”.
The Dream is a cracking Melodic Rock album, resembling Journey as primary influence, but also with elements of Two Fires and Valentine's debut albums. One of the Melodic Rock highlights of the season and definitely and album to look out for.
Final tracklisting includes: You're Not Alone; All That I Wanted; The Dream; Fool's Game; Bring Back This Love; I Don't Wanna Say Goodbye; When You Get Lonely; In The City; Tomorrow; If I Can Take You.

Samples sound to my ears more interesting than most of Revelation, and I don't even think that Revelation is bad album...

Sounds a little like a Hunsicker-fronted Journey.
I don't like Hugo very much, but Ramos has done some solid work.
Will await Drew's review.

Fellow MR posters have been kind enough to send me a few Hugo cds over the years.
They have all left me cold.
The choruses on this cd don't sound particularly strong, either.
I didn't mention Jeremey to start an argument.
Both men slather on the Perry inflections thick and deep.

Having had the brass ring of Journey within earthly grasp, comparisons to Jeremey are inevitable. Like it or not, he is now a part of Journey lore.
After giving the sound clips fair consideration, the music initially reminds me of a potential Huniscker-fronted Journey.
Not quite sure why such a comparison elicits such hostile reactions.

Absolutely.

[whine] but this is not out for another 3 months ......[/whine]

I have not been excited by any new music lately.

However, this one (due in October) and the new Extreme (Nuno Bettencourt, Gary Cherone et all) is due in August.

Time to save my pennies!!!

Men who’ve worked with or are tangentially tied to members of Journey in one capacity or another, and are releasing an album whose main cited musical influence is Journey.
The Journey comparisons are favorable, and from my view, deliberate.
Who are you people kidding?

Let me first say this , the song I listen to, "Bring Back This Love," is good. Now, this is NOT a knock and I swear to God I am not trying to stir anything up, but if you want to compare a song sounding like Soto's Believe In Me, it's BBTL. Not a knock just an observation. Listen to the choruses. Just my opinion. Carry on.

BTW, both are good songs.   Yes, I just threw Soto a bone.

What about Fabrizio Grossi, John Macaluso and all the other contributors!

I was a little underwhelmed by the clips but still excited about the final release. I liked the way that Hugo's vocals were layered in places.

Yep! I talked to him about a year and a half ago. He definitely wasn't interested in doing non-christian music! Very nice guy, but he's found his calling. I respect his decision, but really wish he would have been interested in working on some originals. Oh well... The search for a great vocalist continues!

I don't know the guys you referenced but I'll let you know once you I get a listen to the final product though.

I'm with you on the layering, it sounded great. The mix is a bit off for me. Hugo needs turned up a notch, Josh is about right, and the keys need turned down a couple of notches (sorry Eric). I'm hoping the final mix gets a big tune up! I don't pay a lot of attention to clips as most of the time they don't do a song justice. In fact, I'd argue they make things worse and reduce interest.

Now where is that Valentine CD. Someone needs to give Journey a run for their money. Hugo is the man to do it.

So work up a Christian based band with Kelty on leads. A voice like his needs to be recording while its still there. PC's will be around for after that.

That's not a bad idea (and it had actually crossed my mind), but right now... I'm not where I need to be spiritually to record an album like that. There are a LOT of amazing musicians that are into contemporary Christian right now though, that I'm sure he'd have no trouble hooking up with the right people! I just hope he does SOMETHING with his God-given gift.
