Seems there is no change then with Journey and their crazy touring schedule's.
Hope the little fella's voice can take all this.

They need to get through this tour first. Their schedule is grueling and I just noticed Arnel has 2 more back to back to back dates (shaking head). I just can't understand that.

I hear ya, NIG. But hey, I make no excuses for anyone...it's Arnel's voice and he did agree to it. I just can't seem to figure out why they ever need to do 3 nights in a row. It's simply not worth the risk. Arnel is used to singing for long periods of time 5 or 6 nights a week, but the Phillipines have a naturally vocal friendly climate that many parts of the U.S. simply don't have.

Neither ever sang 5 or 6 nights a week for 5 or 6 hours at a time. But I get your point. 8)

Alright, I don't have the tour schedules in front of me presently, and admittedly I know less about the Augeri tours, but Steve 1 certainly sang at least 5 nights a week for months on end. The Departure schedule looks almost frightening.

Granted he was younger than Arnel is now when he did that, but he did do it. And all the more reason they should take better care of the schedules with AP. He's not 25.

How about 31 (YES 31!!) days in row from May 11, 1979 to June 10, 1979

Couple this with the FTLOSM tour and it just goes to show that Perry did not know how to take care of his voice. That's just stupid.

HH talked about tour 'density' once, meaning the amount of shows that it takes to clear expenses. No doubt tours today are more expensive than ever. (I'd love to see their gas bill!) If a singer submits, and the tour doc keeps an eye on his throat, then why not make all the jack you can?

Read once (years ago) where Billy Joel wanted to slow down because he kept breaking fingers on tour, but said he couldn't. He liked too much to play, and the extra money was great.

I guess when you consider all the paychecks for EVERYONE involved (roadies, techs, crew, families, etc.), profits can be slim. I don't think it's greed. I think it's just business.

Something I've never understood...is why do baseball teams have to play 200 games every year?

All great points, but they've seemingly put all of their eggs in one basket with a singer very new to touring and very new to this climate. Couple that with what happened to their last singer and I just don't see why scaling back 5 or 6 shows is going to greatly affect the bottom line. I wish these guys the very best of luck. They're my favorite "live" incarnation of the band (that I've been able to see).

While I won't say "finished" I would say that they'd be letting the "Golden Goose" go. This guy stands to make them more money in Asia than they could dream of. Shit, he's already wildly popular here. They must be so proud. And deservedly so. 8)

Bingo! Asia. Winter here means summer down there...Philipines, Australia, probably a couple Japan dates en route. Maybe Hawaii? As long as everyone is healthy, this tour will be extended.

I don't think it will ever come to that, but they could go back to opening for Def Leppard or something along those lines. This tour with Cheap Trick and Heart is truly something special. I never realized Heart was this good and I'm liking Cheap Trick more and more every show. Talk about 3 superb vocalists.

Speaking of high expenses to run a tour and "love to see their gas bill", I was once quoted that their tour buses cost $8,000 a WEEK! That's EACH ONE!!

Glad to hear you say that! I've always been a TRICK fan. Saw them for the first time on the (gulp!) HEAVEN TONIGHT tour, about a month after BUDOKAN was released. This was back in the day when you could just wander in the venue during Sound check. Got to meet Neilsen and Zander. Big thrill for a pre-teen! And yes, Zander is still a kick ass singer.

Agreed! Having seen him in Dallas performing his 3rd show in 3 nights I can honestly say he kicked MAJOR ass and it was 111 degrees while he was on and they were in the sun. Still tore the set up. 8)

Did they play any Beatles? Saw them play Mudd Island (Memphis) with Aldo Nova in '82. At some point that night, RN flips up his guitar and it has pics of the Fab Four on the backside, and they rip into 'Day Tripper'. (I think.) Wanna say they played 3-4 Beatles hits. It was awesome.

I've seen them live a number of times over the years (not on this tour as of yet) and the only Beatles I;ve ever seen them play was the aforementioned DAY TRIPPER (actually, a radio hit for them in 1980, form their FOUND ALL THE PARTS ep) and MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR (which they recorded for their Greatest Hits LP).
George Martin DID produce Trick's ALL SHOOK UP album, and in my opinion, it's the second best Beatles album ever!
