Top 20 Albums Of All Time

Postby Enigma869 » Thu Jul 31, 2008 2:39 am

At least according to one Yahoo blogger. To the guy's credit, he at least spells out his parameters for coming up with the list, something most other lists never do. Journey is nowhere to be found on this list!

"Album Staying Power Value + Sales Value + Critical Rating Value + Grammy Award Value"

Good formula. Great list. Just don't know about Stevie Wonder at #1. And 4 Led Zep albums? :? And Red13JoePa will be incensed to see the lack of a single Rolling Stones album.

Actually great list.

Stevie Wonder at #1 is okay but FAITH at #20 no way that is best selling top 20 LP.

That's actually a decent list of albums. I've listened to most of them, and the ones I have listened to are GREAT.

It's a great list but I would squeeze "Peter Frampton Live" in there somewhere. I'm no doubt alone on this but what the hey? It is what it is to me.

I'm not sure how "Physical Graffiti" beat out LZ IV.

Where is BOSTON? Their first Album is the one that all other corporate rock albums should be measured against.

Sucky list.

George Michael's "Faith" made it but nothing from Journey, Boston or Foreigner?

Next.

Including Grammy Award Value just killed this list of all credibility. Grammy Awards are meaningless and a mere $$$ for popularity contest.

I have six of the twenty. Not a single Zep album or Pink Floyd - never into them at all.

Don't get me wrong. I think PG is a great album but there are a few throwaway tracks. LZ IV is great from start to finish.

Of all the artists in all the world, a Top 20 list off all-time should not include more than 1 album per artist.

C'mon, Drew. We know your top 20 list would include 5 Rick Springfield albums and a dozen or so Toto discs.

cant argue much with his opinion
although boston has sold some 18 million+ and has probably outsold george michael 100 to 1 since 1990
and how do you leave out acdc, and keep 4 led zeps
other than that most of those would end up on 90 of 100 peoples lists
not mine of course

Zep 4 is a must own, if ever there was one. Straight classic from start to finish.
