I tried to read some of that. Its hard to follow... Yeeesh, there has to be a better way to copy/paste that text. Those look like screen grabs. I might have to visit, survey the situation, and stick a wrench in and fix that.

But thanks for sharing, Rip.

I had to re-read that. Thought you wrote "stick a wench in and fix that". :)

Seriously though, I hope his online interaction with fans has been sactioned by TPTB. I'd hate to see anything happen now that he's accomplishing so much.

Anyone notice this line? "I don't want to be over confident on things?

I clicked on the thread but couldn't follow the transcript. Somebody more proficient than I would have to copy & paste it here.

I hope so too. I love it when people in posistions like his do that type of thing, whether its posting on a board (like Jeff does) or using a chat room (like Arnel)... personally, I feel like that's the sign of someone who isn't so caught up in everything that they don't care or don't have time and that they respect the people who enjoy what they do enough to interact on the same level. Even something like SP's occasional Q&A... he doesn't have to do that, just like Jeff or Arnel don't have to bother posting or chatting. And I know that Steve A, during his days in the band, would submit responses to the fan questions (hand written, even) to be posted on the Journey site.

Wait a minute, I sense a pattern here. Singers = fan friendly... do I need to finish that?

But to stay on topic here... Arnel is definitely a class act. I'm glad to see him have a good a time with his fans that way.

Blunt skippy:

-Arnel really appreciated Rip's gift of a T-shirt, but tossed it --err, I mean, he lost it.
-Arnel is looking forward to getting a Dokken CD from Rip, so he can toss that too, heheh.
-Arnel's GE acid reflux is flaring up again, so he can't drink ginger decoct for his throat anymore
-Arnel misses Kare-Kare (look it up) and other Pinoy dishes. Hopes to score some in LA
-He reads all his mail, guaranteed, but cannot reply for time constraints.
-Any MR interview might be iffy because of too many haters (rather than just critics) on MR
-Journey's been practicing What I Needed in prep for live performance
-Arnel chooses his own clothes for the stage, yellow pants included, LOL

I don't like this at all. Dare I say that any interview is with me for the site, nothing to do with a few "haters" that lurk on a message board.

That was a paraphrase, and not exactly what was said. Basically, he felt there were many people here who weren't that fond of him, but didn't use the word "haters". We are trying to help him reconsider, and people at his site would love to see an interview happen here. Lots of logistics, I'm sure. But it was all positive about it happening sometime.

Jesus, relax...
Sorry about any compression error in transposing Arnel's posts,
but try to imagine the context at the time:

Arnel maybe didn't know it was going to be a one-on-one interview with you...
He could have thought it'd be like a free-for-all, shoutout-box-style, but here on some MR thread.

Why don't you shoot Erik an email? It might help expedite an interview.

Journey's publicist has my request with her....

I wasn't sure what context an interview was suggested either, so my comments were just to set the record straight.

I would welcome an interview with Arnel anytime. I have a lot of questions I think would help cover some important ground.

Also, thanks...that was rather hard to follow. Nice to see AP interacting with the fans...esp. Rip, lol. But, they better not take our Rip away from us. ;) What's Knellsky mean? How'd they all know it was AP for real?

In the Philippines, it's common to call guys named Arnel "Arnelski" or "Arnelsky"...
thence, "Nelsky" or the further-twisted "Knellsky".

You sometimes call a beer a brewski, right?

For intimates, Arnel is shortened not as "Arnie", but simply "Nel".
The AP crowd already knows that AP posts as "Knellsky", on the site run by AP's brother.

The hiring of Arnel Pineda has brought MANY positives to this band.

One of which being that I've learned a LOT about Filipino culture and ways, that I would have never known otherwise! THANKS for the education wech, and any others who have shared interesting tidbits like that!

Kenny Loggins is one cool dude.
Came over to the Philippines over a decade or so ago, and I got to see him live.

One local TV host/singer begged to do a duet with him, on said singer's show,
and Loggins not only agreed on the spot, but he sang second voice!
Nice guy.

This is to everybody -- they are really enjoying having us MR folk visit their house on the Internet, and the only thing I'm asking everyone here is to PLEASE treat it with respect. We do things much differently over here, but as the saying goes, "when in Rome..." All the jabs (playful or not), stronger language, band history drama, and yes, even the Friganese are best left here... haha! Please...

Once so many of us rushed in, I think some of them were overwhelmed and were afraid to speak Pinoy around the guests for fear of offending us, etc. Really trying to let them know to please just be themselves and if it gets to be too much, we should probably give them their space back. I'm sure things will even out and adjust soon enough... haha. Just don't want their experience with us to be too overwhelming. I kinda try to take my shoes off before entering their house.

GREAT people, and I'm learning so much from them.

On one hand I agree with you, but on the other hand, you get what you get with any band. Journey has a whacked out history and a host of people who feel a certain way about it. Fact. But I do see where you're coming from.

Again true. I was in there for all of 10 minutes, maybe 20, and out of 82 "chatters", most of the chatting was coming from MR citizens. But it was interesting. I'm sure I'll pop back in for a look from time to time. :D

Thanks for posting this Rip! Hanging out on Arnel's site and in the chat was a great experience this weekend. GREAT people.....very friendly and welcoming!

I do agree in that we MR peeps, as a group, can be somewhat, um..........vocal. Kind of like the proverbial bull in the China shop!!! I think everyone was happy to see MR folk there, especially Rip and Proggie and SJ. I also think they may not have been quite prepared for the onslaught!

Great advice from Rip.....let's remember we are THEIR guests, and treat their space accordingly. And it would be GREAT to see some of our new friends posting here!!! :D
