I'm in the process of looking into going to The Phillipines when Journey plays there in February. Wanna go with, Tito? And I am serious. Why I'm asking you is beyond me. You're so fucking cheap you make George Halas look like a drunken sailor in a whore house.

GREAT people, and I'm learning so much from them.

Thanks for posting this Rip! Hanging out on Arnel's site and in the chat was a great experience this weekend. GREAT people.....very friendly and welcoming!

I do agree in that we MR peeps, as a group, can be somewhat, um..........vocal. Kind of like the proverbial bull in the China shop!!! I think everyone was happy to see MR folk there, especially Rip and Proggie and SJ. I also think they may not have been quite prepared for the onslaught!

Great advice from Rip.....let's remember we are THEIR guests, and treat their space accordingly. And it would be GREAT to see some of our new friends posting here!!! :D

TRAGchick is also a frequent request now that we've revealed her for the heroine she is -- someone put out the TRAGsignal to notify her to stop by and visit!

I'm looking into this, too, but was told by my wife last night that I'd promised her a beach vacation next year... And I can't wait to show her the beaches in the Philippines... haha!

That has to go both ways, I would think the one's that come visiting over here have to understand our humour and not be offended by everything that isn't pro Arnel. I lived for awhile in the RP, and found them for the most part gentle, fun loving people, but they will be loyal to their countryman Arnel, sometimes to the extreme, even turning on their brothers if they perceive them to be whitewashed. I'm not trying to be a killjoy but just trying to keep things in perspective. For the most part I love Filipino Culture but I also see them just like any other group of people, some good and some bad.

funny, but it's a real band. Seems like what Keith Partridge would be if he was in a hard rock band.

It is not difficult to understand why there might be strong nationalistic feelings, the Phillipines was the object of a long period of imperialism (first by Spain, and then by the U.S.).
A denial is the same thing as a non-response. Either way, nothing new is learned.

lol...yeah, he even commented that his eyes were hurting!!! It was early afternoon in The Phillipines so the place was somewhat busy...70 people in the chat I believe. That will make for sore eyes fast with 70 people saying hello at once! He said he was exhausted...didn't stay very long but it was nice of him to stop in and say hi. Some cool pics:

One of which being that I've learned a LOT about Filipino culture and ways, that I would have never known otherwise! THANKS for the education wech, and any others who have shared interesting tidbits like that!

I worked on cruise ships (where a large majority of crew are philipino) and learned some tagalog and had a lot of fun learning about their culture. Ex bandleader was married to one. My sister worked for a Philipina dentist and has philipino friends. Mom knows a little bit about it also. Learned on the ships that they always were really good musicians and singers so the Pineda hiring didn't surprise me a bit. We still have fun talking tagalog and about their culture. They were always super nice people and funny as hell.

It's Arnel's official site and he speaks Tagalog on there which, to me, makes it more than ok to speak it on there. Hell, I'm learning some new words!!! That site is running smoothly in my eyes and I enjoy popping in every day. 8)

At least this "TYPE & GREET" style pleases people who seriously worry about Arnel getting virus from fans!
