Thank you for proving my point. John Mayer...lol.

You do realize the song "Beat It" is not about what you and Tito do together every Saturday night-right???????????????????????

Do you think you have enough question marks?

Always thought Bob Seger's 'Fortunate Son' was far better than CCR's...and I'm not really a Seger fan.
Used to like Frampton's 'Jumpin Jack Flash' too.

I prefer Pat Benatar's version of "Wuthering Heights" over the original by Kate Bush. I like Bananarama's version of "Venus" over the original from The Shocking Blue, and I prefer the slowed down version of "Help" by John Farnham over the original by The Beatles.

Like JSS' edgier version of Crazy more than Seal's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtWJIzKejmU

Always liked Bon Jovi's version of With A Little Help From My Friends too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zpjt4vjrjY

And Mr. Big's version of Baba O'Riley. See sig. :)

Not sure if I like BJ's and Mr. Big's versions more than the originals, but probably just as much as. But prefer JSS' Crazy better than the original.

I just thought of one from the other night. Heart did a pretty amazing cover of The Who's "Love, reign o'er me."

I still prefer Lacuna Coil's cover of 'Enjoy the Silence' more than Depeche Mode's original.

Also, Jeffrey Gaines' version of "In Your Eyes" stands up to Peter Gabriel's version.

Man, I love Gabriel. The original version is just mesmerizing. Gaines is nowhere near as competent vocally but i'll agree it does stand up well.

How about this live version by Gabriel -

Asolutely agree on "Wurthering Heights", why Kate has to SCREAM her version I'll never understand. Pat made that song beautiful! Have to disagree on "Venus". I love Shocking Blue's version.

[quote="finalfight"]Is there such a thing as a cover version that betters the original or at least improves on it in some way?

Marilyn Martin singing Move Closer. Way better than Phyllis......

I actually prefer Danzig's take on David Bowie's Cat People to the original.

Bowie original

Danzig version

Both versions take a while to get going though...
