OT: Biggest "Dark Knight" gripe

So I'm not alone in thinking this apparently... it was so bad this time around it kinda detracted from the film:

Interesting how they enhanced it in TDK. Hope they catch on next time!

Yeah... I agree. I understood the reasoning behind it in the first movie, but I think they just took it WAY to far in the second. It didn't ruin the movie for me or anything, but it did get on my nerves. Hopefully they'll tone it down for the next one!

Me too, Jim. Even though it was sorta established in the first film, it did get a bit much during the monologues. But otherwise, Bale rocked, and is a fabulous actor!

In Batman Begins this was used to good effect, particularly on the rooftop scene where he was yo-yoing the criminal. In The Dark Knight however it is waaay over the top and distracted considerably from his overall believability in the role, snapping you out of the film every time he went all Duff Mcgruff.

This was only one of many gripes I had with the film though from Ledger's sterile performance and the vapid 'anytown USA' look of Gotham City to the fuzzy logic that left plot holes big enough to drive a train through. I love the character of Batman but to me Nolan's nu-vision was a major, major disappointment this time around.

I know the majority of people really loved it but frankly I thought it was borderline horseh!t and at this point I would absolutely rather watch Keaton's assured Batman or Val Kilmer's Bruce Wayne rather than torture myself listening to Bale's barking or seeing yet another scene of him waking up in bed*.

Nothing worse than a low pitch raspy lisp for 2 hours. ugh... The movie rocked but was a bit too long at times. I thought they should have edited the film and killed off the Joker. At least that way if they do have another Joker, they don't have to pretend it's the same one.

You noticed that too, huh? I was just about to add that Bale speaks with a slight lisp that makes the growl even more annoying. The 2nd thing I really didn't like was that his cowl, though apparently more functional, didn't look nearly as good and didn't fit hit face well. He didn't have that classic "square jawed" Batman look that so many of the other actors did.

I think Bale has the right "emotion", not since Keaton has there been a Batman with that proper dark side. He has the look, even his teeth are kind of bat like, actually he looks a bit like a young Jack Palance to me.

I like how Bale disguises his voice for the role of Batman.. I think he was the only one to do so. I must say..the first time Bale dropped his first line as Batman.. I took a big load in my pants. Scared the sh!t outta me. :cry:

Square peg, round hole.

That article is reaching way too far and crediting the movie as being something other than a big bang, high value popcorn movie. Beyond the occasional explosion or cacophony of noise the movie lacked tension and as such there are many better examples of movies that exploit the terrorism aspect far better.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it sucked. But I really have no desire to ever see it again. Marvel characters do kick DC ass though. Capain America's in the works, The Avengers, Thor also. Alot to look forward to.

I'm sure DC will have another reboot of Superman coming in 5 or 6 years. :roll:

They'll probably reboot Batman a few years after that. YAWN!!!

Batman is actually about to have another animated reboot with the forthcoming Brave & the Bold. It reminds me of the old Dick Sprang days...

Tim Burton said what he liked most about Keaton was the eyes. He didn't have to use any effects to give that dark look when in the mask. As far as the voice, I have heard Keaton use that low tone before in the movie " Pacific Heights"

Holy Crap, I practically quoted the post above with the fishing pole, "Swear to me!" thing.
THAT rocked and the voice was perfect.
That was my favorite part of Batman Begins and loved that and the new one.

Bale has more of a lisp visually, than audibly doesn't he? I don't pick it up unless I watch him.
