I never claimed it was just the Packers.
Enigma869 wrote:Every interview involving any of the Packers' management or coaching staff has made it VERY clear that they do NOT want Favre around, and not the other way around...... The Packers simply want to know whether or not they need to re-sign Aaron Rodgers, at the end of this season. It's really no more complicated than that!

For a football fan (and I know you're a diehard), that's a dopey comment to make. For them to release Favre, before his "retirement" announcement, would have caused them a PR nightmare of MAMMOTH proportions! Why would the Packers EVER release a guy they have the rights to that they know they can get draft picks for???? No GM in sports would do that!

Well, I certainly agree with your premise that a team shouldn't do that.
Enigma869 wrote:RedWingFan wrote:I can't believe you think it's the Packers who are keeping him away.
Dude...have you been living under a rock the past week??? You do realize that The Packers offered Favre over TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS TO SIMPLY STAY RETIRED, right???? What part of that isn't the Packers trying to keep the guy away????
Enigma869 wrote:I don't believe that the Packers ever went in to the off-season hoping Favre would retire. That said, once he made his bogus announcement, they turned the page and their mission is to find out whether or not Rodgers is a keeper or not. I'm not sure why this seems so far-fetched to you.
Enigma869 wrote:If the Packers were dealing with this situation while Favre was in the prime of his career, it would be FAR more damaging. At this point, it is simply delaying the inevitable!

Speaking of the Jets and their quarterback situations... wth ever happened with Chad Pennington?

When you "retire"...STAY OFF THE FUCKING FIELD.

Exactly. He's tarnished his career, made an ass out of himself, and just become a high school punk cliche.
Maybe the real problem is Hattiesburg. If he'd get out of that nowhere $hithole, and grow up, he might be more level-headed.

Bradshaw and Staubach knew when to retire to give the "new generation" a chance, and they HELD TO IT, why can't this pussy?? Again....if I never hear about Favre again...I'll be happy.

Pretty much my sentiments exactly. This circus has made me sick of him. He's handled the curtain of his career worse than Aynsley Dunbar when he loiters in the mall food court next to Forever XXI.

He is like having a porcelain doll at QB. He is competing with Kellen Clemens for the starting job, tho.

I don't like fuck-ups. He was good up until this point. Then decided to shit down his leg.

The Packers will have 20 years of losing seasons ahead with what has transpired this summer.

They will have alot of losing seasons. Rogers will have to be better then what he was during family night. He will not win games from what I saw that night. And the Packers dumped Brett for him.All I can say is I'm not putting in to much watch time this year. Who knows when I'll feel like watching the Packers again.
Arkansas wrote:Aaron Rodgers probably will have a decent season or two...before going to another team.
Btw, I've always thought the Packers started tumbling down hill when Mike Holmgren left.
