While I think he is a scumbag, it now appears that Mrs. Edwards participated in the 'cover up' and condoned his moving forward with a Presidential campaign that would never have taken place had the public known that he had cheated, and then repeatedly lied about it. While I am very sympathetic to her situation, I also think she should share some of the 'hypocrisy' charges. Any criticism of her will not go far due to her condition. But at least in my mind, I do not hold her in as high regard as I had previously.

Maybe. If I put myself in her shoes, not sure what I would have done. I can see how for her, keeping it quiet would be the easiest thing to do for herself and her children. I mean, it's kind of a tough position for her to be in. To not stay quiet would have done more than ruin her husband's political ambitions, it would ruin her life as well.

Since she is now dying and dealing with this public humiliation, I can't help but feel sorry for her.

Where did i say ANYTHING about partisanship? Quite the opposite. I DID actually like the guy (unlike most on this board) and I believed in him, so this hurts me quite a bit. But my call for compassion has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican. I'd say the EXACT same thing if this were George Bush or John McCain.

Absolutely agree on that. Judge not, that ye be not judged. And not that we all aren't guilty of that at one time or another. Maybe we all need reminding of it. Religion is convenient isn't it? Most just pick and choose which parts they want to invoke and ignore the mirror. Before anyone jumps on that... its NOT something that's aimed at anyone here. That's my general view and has been for quite some time.

And like x-factor, I'd say the same whehter it was Obama, McCain, whoever, and I did say the same when it was Billy. It doesn't matter... what's equally despicable is those who went and dragged it up and purposely went after the family 2 years later, after their family has already dealt with it among themselves, where it should have stayed. THAT is my problem with this. No one knows the situation but Mr.& Mrs. Edwards, none of us were there, and it being a personal matter (not a political or public one) it does not concern the public at large.

Of course he lied about it... why wouldn't he? ANYONE would. Obviously he didn't want it to become a public matter and have it thrown back up to his wife and family AGAIN. That doesn't make what he did right, but he's the one who has to answer to his wife, his family and his god and most of all, himself for it. Not to us.

But its to the same end. Who isn't guilty of hurting people they love, who doesn't regret some action or another, and who hasn't gone on a soapbox of shit they themselves aren't or weren't guilty of at some point in time.... we ALL have them.
