Meet & Greet

Has this been discussed already? If so I must have missed it.

Why were the meet and greets taken out of the 5 star ILAA package?

Some of the pictures from earlier meet and greets show fans all over Arnel. Arnel may be used to this sort of thing from the Philippines, so he doesn't resist it. I'm sure they're doing it to keep him from getting sick.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Let's keep him as healthy as he can be. Don't want the dreaded yeast throat to infect Arnel! All those disappointed should keep this in mind. We don't need singer number 4 since Perry to have to step in. Arnel's a real find.

not to start a war here but........ I notice the fans are much more "clingy" to Arnel in the aftershow backstage parties and meet & greets then they are at the 10 minute 5 Star M&G. Why not cancel all backstage passes too especially since it means the band has to stay at the venue that much longer. I'm sure they arrive at the venue at a reasonably early time and have the time to visit for 10 minutes with the fans. If the 5 Star people have to be at the venue at 5pm for a 7pm show, then why cant Journey come visit right before they do their soundcheck at around 5pm. If its really about the germs, I'm sure their not exactly giving each person with a backstage pass a thorough examination by the venue doctor. Or maybe the backstage pass comes with a package of Cold-Eze or Airborne to take a week prior to the show

Too bad that some had to ruin it for all

Deen came to Nashville and signed autographs and took pictures with everyone who wanted one.

Jon and Ross came to Birmingham and did a more formalized M&G and took pictures.

It seems if members of the band are available, they are still coming to the 5*, just no guarantee.

Houston with the full band took a lot longer than 10 minutes, more like 45.

I also heard there are no more 'aftershow' M&Gs

I went to 2 M&G's in Florida in '07, and if they are all like those, the guys shouldn't have a lot to worry about. We were on one side of a table and the band was on the other. In fact, I walked around the table to take a picture between Ross & Deen and I thought I was gonna get beat up by one of their 'bodyguards'. :? Ross & Deen didn't mind though, so we got our picture, and I was even able to give a message to Deen from one of his friends. 8)

The 'germ' theory doesn't hold water for me either, because if I'm not mistaken, there are years upon years of experience within the Journey camp. I would think they are familiar with what happens at M&G's and the risks involved. Just doesn't fly... Doesn't matter to me, though, cause I'm not going to any. For those of you who are disappointed that you aren't getting your money's worth, I'm sorry. :(

I think it's a bunch of bollocks too. However, if you contact ILAA, they will refund the "package" value but let you keep the tickets at the $116 face value. For $259 for each ticket, I can manage eating and buying a T-shirt like everyone else. I'm hiring a local band for my birthday with the difference.

Well...
I'd heard that Arnel's had a least two close calls with infection, since Spain.
I'd also heard there was a gastric problem (turned out to be longtime GERD or acid reflux).

I'm sure management's concerned about Arnel getting sick, but there are other reasons.
Arnel has said (SBChat 08Aug08) the whole band is pretty tired. It seems only Deen has
enough gas in the tank to do M&G's, while the rest look to saving it up for onstage.
I don't remember who said it, but there was supposed to be at least one time that they
got onstage pretty LATE, because the M&G's were running on too long.

Althou I had a 5* M&G in Vegas where I had my copy of Revelation signed by all, and my hug from Neal too :D , I was still very disappointed that it was pulled just a few days from my Nashville show.

Ok, so ILAA offered a full or partial refund, I had still hoped to get my Journey MP3 player signed at that show..oh, and get yet another hug. But, enough about me.

Germs...oh yes, I totally understand that aspect. I know for a fact that all band members have spent time in their hotel rooms hoocked to IV and under doctors care, so yes, germs are a factor. I know we are concerned about germs in our home and wash our hands numerous times a day; so with them shaking hands to everyone who goes through the line, I'm sure is a concern.

And on a lighter note, the M&Gs have not been totally banned. They have gone back to how they were before, any band member may show up at your ILAA party or they may not...just depends.

Many thanks to Deen for showing up at the Nashville M&G..what a total sweetheart he is..and he's HOT!

Really the only thing that has changed is that the Meet N Greet aspect of the 5* party is not guarenteed. As has been mentioned here already the guys are still showing up...just not all of them all the time. Deen was super awesome in Nashville! Looking mighty hot as Bonnie said! ;) And Jon and Ross showed up in Birmingham and spent time autographing and posing for pictures!

I imagine the heat and humidity have been a huge factor in the change.
