Gregg Rolie and His Amazing Organ

Postby Rhiannon » Sun Aug 10, 2008 3:15 pm

We're just back in from the Gregg Rolie Band show. ...FREAKING AWESOME!! :D

Managed to ninja the setlist away from the drummer as he walked by,
shouting "Dude, dude, can I have the setlist, puh-leeeease?" usually works.

Gregg Rolie Set List (90 Minutes Plus Set)

Evil Ways
Jingo
No One to Depend On
As the Years Go By
Bailamos
Waiting
Across the Water
Give it to Me
Black Magic Woman
Gypsy Queen
Oye Como Va
Soul Sacrifice

(encore)
Toussaint
Everybody's Everything

The night was awesome. Gregg and his guys are the happiest bunch of performers I've ever seen. They were having more fun than we were!! And for ProgRocker's enjoyment BJG and I were standing in the front row dead center of Rolie's organ. :P

The organ looked old and beat up... but it was smooth and soulful. Hehe... okay so that was a cheap shot, but it's the truth! Gregg kept making faces at us all through the show and even cracked up at one point over BJG's grooving and jiving. I kept waiting for him to stand up and do "na-na's" and wave his arms a la LTS.

Now, to address the Journeyisms. Kevin Chalfant walked by us before the show (don't piddle your manties, Rip) and stopped by and said "Hellos" and chatted for a moment before making his way behind the stage... so OF COURSE we were hoping and wishing for a little Just the Same Way, Anytime, or Feeling that Way.

FAIL. :( C'MON KEVIN!!! Why you gotta show up and tease us like that, fucker? ...*pout*

Afterwards, we got a few moments to chat with the band and have stuff signed (BJG was the Sharpie savior of the night... you'd think after almost 40 years, Gregg would know to keep a Sharpie around!). Just as the cops were coming around telling us to GTFO of the park, we got our turn to take pictures with Gregg. (YAY!) After, of course, the dude who brought his entire vinyl collection with him.

Gregg said "Let's do this before we get arrested by Barney." Totally cool guy. And no one said the "P" word... except for some smelly drunk guy screaming about "Why didn't you do any 'Look into the Future'?!? ...Hey, where's Perry?" ...Um. Riiiiight.

PICTURESSS!!! :D :D

Turning green here
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Thanks for the post and the great pics. I'm glad you two had a good time. It's cool that the band hung around for autographs and pics. 8)
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.
