Postby venomnation » Fri Aug 08, 2008 3:42 pm

The Venom Nation Request Line is Now Up and Running! If you'd like to make a request, or leave us a comment for the air....give us a call at (678) 500-9064! Leave Your Name, City (Or Pirate Radio or Melodicrock Username, whatever) and the name of the artist and song, and we'll get it on the air in an upcoming episode (Pending it rocks, of course..). It's a trial thing, but we anticipate it being great for business...so be the first to try it!

And, if you're an ARTIST...you can leave a message on there as well, you know, telling us how much we ROCK!!!

Who's gonna be the first!

BRING IT ON!!

NO! Bad Kitty!

Postby venomnation » Sun Aug 10, 2008 11:15 pm

Apparently the backup system has things all screwed up......because it's playing our show OUT of order. It's playing hour number two in the hour 1 spot...and I'm only left to guess it'll play hour number 1 in the second hour.

Sorry guys...it's nobodys fault. It's the system.....and anyone who could FIX it on the spot...is sick as a dog right now (including myself, and I can't fix it). I thought I had a number of someone in my recent call list that could fix it but apparently that wasn't them (Probably ought to apologize to whoever I did call when Find out who that was).

So, I give up. There's nothing I can do except sit back and get pissed off over something I can't fix, that isn't anybody fault...and I'm not going to do that when there's never been a mistake like this to date (not that wasnt fixed in the first five minutes)

So...enjoy our ass backwards show this week... :D .if you want to listen to it backwards...(It'll make no sense, but go for it).

Here's the link to DOWNLOAD the show...http://venomnationradio.com/vnation/arch/08-09-08.zip

We'll make it up to you next week....it's our three hour birthday bash show....hopefully everything is back up and running normal by then.....but don't fault anyone -it's just computer error that can't be helped.

Again, I'm sorry, let's just chalk this one up to a BAD week for everyone at Pirate.. and MOVE ON...

Steve

you're absolutely right.

Roger Waters wrote (I believe) "Brick" and most of "The Wall".

And yes, "On an Island' put me to sleep too.... However...he's got a new DVD coming that I think will wake your ass right back up!

This might be the busiest forum but I would argue that it's not necessarily the right forum for what you are trying to promote. You might actually be better off on the notice board or in visiting multiple forums for more relevant artists. The JSS forum for example, which has a loyal and developing number. Perhaps it would be worth looking at Metal Sludge or, and this ones a doozy, getting some exposure on Blabbermouth.net!

I think you are attempting to set up shop in the wrong part of town here but wish you success regardless.

Waters is definitely the more passionate artist which shines through in his work. Gilmour's 1984 release 'About Face' was outstanding though.

I setup "shop" where Andrew ''allows'' me to - and nowhere else. I came to an agreement with him before I ever started promoting this show as to how and where I would do so, so as not to spam the board.

Are you saying that Andrew won't allow you to advertise on other sites? I for one would be happy to see you go elsewhere - for promotion purposes of course.

Oh no...I'm sure he wouldn't care about that...I thought you were implying that I should post in other threads on THIS site. To be honest we don't frequent many other forums than this (me) and Van-Halen.net (my co-host). What were you suggesting?

More promotion, which is never a bad thing, perhaps veered towards sites with content more akin to the material you cover - Blabbermouth.net, Metal Sludge, Brave Words.com etc. All have a large following and might help you gain word of mouth and boost listener numbers.

I'm not a fan of Blabbermouth. A lot of the music we play on our show gets news posts on there with a response of "Why is this news". I have nothing against RR or BBMouth, but a lot of the users themselves, just turn me away from the place.

Metal Sludge, and Bravewords...I've not checked out. But will on your suggestion.

What's your ID on those two boards, so I can advise who referred me on initial post?

Hi All.

Just a note about TS Fay and it's effects on Venom Nation.

Tropical Storm Fay is making its way through my area right now (as we speak it's sitting just about on TOP of Valdosta, GA). '

My pool out back is flooded over the top...and we have tree limbs as big around as 6-8 inches across our roads. As of right now, there's no traffic lights or streetlights to about half of Valdosta. The lights at my store were flickering on and off like a pink floyd laser show, and it eventually blew the control timer boards that control our lights at about 19:15 this evening and we spent the rest of the work shift in the dark...no customers, no nothin...just us and a relatively dark store.

The major casualty in the situation seems to be my big daddy computer...right now it won't post (the board is likely fried). This is the box that's used to produce Venom Nation and also contains about 80% of the music and sessions for the show (which totals, right now almost 6 Terabytees between the drives internal and external. Not exactly sure what kind of delay (if any) this will put oin our show.

The show for tomorrow night (the 23rd) is ready, Luke produced from his house... I'm not sure, however, that i will make it into Pirate Chat for the show. Forgive me if that's the case.

I wish I could say that this will just "blow over" and we could get back down to business, but on it's current path, the storm will take it's next aim at Alabama where Luke is. I don't know what (if any) effect it will have on him or his participation in the show....If it gets to him, (and I can't speak for him) his presence in P-chat may be negligable as well.

Strangely, while we can't keep our internet service running more than 20 minutes at a time when the sun shines, conveniently it's running heavy and hard during a tropical storm. (all my comptuers are unplugged..and they WERE on UPS systems...and it still got one..). I'm using the laptop on battery....

Bear with me, if you will...and i hope to see you all in Pirate-chat tomorrow night.
If you'll excuse me, I'm gettting my rowboat and I'm going to the store

Steve

It's crept right up on us....and we've been so busy rockin we didn't even notice! Venom Nation's 20th Episode is THIS WEEKEND!

Oh...where do we begin...
First and foremost...we'd like to thank our Mom's....wait....screw that!!!

We're giving ourselves a big ol' Pat on the back for having not KILLED Each other in 20 shows! And a big thank you to Rock and John Silvers at Pirate Radio, without whom this show would not be heard every Saturday night!

And the biggest thanks to you, the listeners, for putting up with our hijinx, our missing hosts, our technical difficulties, our 3 hour massacre's, and especially, our "stripped" segments LOL.

Keep tuning in! It only gets better from here! This weekend’s show is our “Return to form” and we’re rockin hard, with a great new playlist, and a kick-ass new “feature band” named “The Crossing”. Don’t Miss it!

To Celebrate, today we're launching the All new Venom Nation Radio Dot Com - Head out there, get registered, and start participating in the growing fun! More stuff coming soon to that site! http://www.venomnationradio.com

Thanks again everyone! We couldn't have done it without ya!

Steve, Mrs. Vicar, Luke, Miss V, Wade, and Marshall!
