Dude, I met my wife on Nickel Beer Night at a fine local establishment -- I took a whole dollar that night so I could get PLOWED!!! I can't believe she even talked to me as much of a dunce as I was.

SJ (& Rip),
My last visit to the Philippines was late December 2006 to early January 2007 and I did not take a taxi, so I'm not exactly sure about the current taxi fares. Based on some news that I've scanned, the taxi fare was recently increased by the gov't by Php 10 (Php=Philippine pesos) or 23 US cents---which is manually added to the total fare; flagdown rate is Php 30 or $68 US cents; and Php 2.50 or 6 US cents per succeeding kilometer. (this info has to be verified, though)

Also, when you're in PI, you need to re-orient your brain from English system to metric: from mile to kilometer; and from pound to kilogram (kilo for short). 1 mile=1.6 kms; and 1 kg=2.2 lbs

Here's a list of good tips in taking a taxi in PI:
http://www.philippines-travel-guide.com ... -taxi.html

And here's some useful travel tips:

(pls copy & paste the link into your browser; for some reason simply clicking it doesn't work)

LOL, Canada has been metric for years. When talking temps with US friends I always have to remember to convert it to farenheit. When I say 35 Celsius they think I mean cold, but that is actually 95 Farenheit.
