Steel Breeze-Heart On The Line (Kevin Chalfant) has arrived

Postby Maro » Tue Aug 12, 2008 5:40 am

Today I've received a package with Steel Breeze - Heart On The Line CD from Para-Sight Records.
This was record Kevin Chalfant made between 707 - Mega Force and The VU recording sessions.

One down, two more to go (KC - Back To Square One and Christmas With All My Friends)... when I got those, I'll have all of Kevin's (released) work...

(In my CD collection: 707 - Mega Force, Steel Breeze - Heart On The Line, VU - s/t, The Storm - s/t, The Storm - Eye Of The Storm, Kevin Chalfant - Running With The Wind, Two Fires - s/t, Two Fires - Ignition, Shadows Fade - s/t, Shooting Star - Circles, Kevin Chalfant - Fly 2 Fr33dom)

Ordering info:

There is something wrong with their ordering page, so you have to manually change price on paypal to 12 USD instead of 49,95 USD and contact them with e-mail to make sure... hope it helps... :D

Yeah, I own the Steel Breeze CD. It's a pretty good album, and Kevin sounds great as always.

Is this the Steel Breeze of "You Don't Want Me Anymore" fame?

Yes... song you mentioned is on their first album from 1982. with Ric Jacobs on vocals.
Kevin Chalfant was lead vocalist on their second album "Heart On The Line" from 1983.
They made three more cds in late 80's/early 90's (Cry Thunder, Still Warriors, Peace Of Mind) with totally different line-up with Bobby Thompson on vocals where each album was more removed from their early 80's AOR sound...
In 90's they became cover band, and couple years ago they recruited female vocalist (Gwen Stefani impersonator) with whom half of their set became cover versions of No Doubt/Gwen Stefani repertoire...
Current line-up of Steel Breeze has nothing in common with original band aside of manager, Rod Toner, who was only constant in all recording line-ups of Steel Breeze (as keyboard player), but who changed keyboard player position years ago for being manager of cover band...

Interesting. I remember seeing these guys on BANDSTAND as a kid, and how Dick Clark made a big deal out of how they financed their 1st album themselves, without the aid of a major label deal. Pretty impressive for the times, considering YDWMA got mad airplay back then!

I know a bass player who plays in that cover band...worked with him a few years ago. They also have a great No Doubt tribute, Gwen in Doubt. Going to see them in Reno next month.

Marc

Could you list all of Kevin's records? I need to double check to make sure I have them all.

Thanks!

The Storm - s/t
The Storm - Eye Of The Storm
Kevin Chalfant - Running With The Wind
Kevin Chalfant & Jim Peterik - The Sum Of Our Hearts (benefit cd single)
Two Fires - s/t
V/A - The Day America Cried (on songs The Sum Of Our Hearts and Waiting For The World To Change)
Two Fires - Ignition

Kevin Chalfant - Back To Square One
