We grown ups disagree!

Yeah, seriously. Right in the middle of the field... Bruce Springspeen.
Crystal clear.
So... would that be a first down, offsides, or just a big old sack?

Far better options!!!
You would rather see those two acts? Do you like them or are you just saying more sheeple would like them?
They're better people, more entertaining, and at this point, more talented than Bruce Screamsteen.

And I highly doubt the man is a billionaire. He also, unlike alot of his ilk, puts his money where his mouth is, with huge charitable gifts to food banks, habitat for humanity, etc...
Okay...fair point about the charity, and I was just trying to be excessive with the "billionaire thing", however he's been whining about this country my whole life. Wasn't he saying how bad things were in the 80's even? I just get tired of it. I'm sorry...I just do. You hear his fans mock when "Born in the USA" is used for patriotic reasons...but don't songs have multiple meanings to different people? You don't hear us criticizing the Sopranos for their usage of DSB by saying....ITS ABOUT PROSTITUTES YOU IDIOT. I feel like he and his fans get kinda swarmy.
Well said Eric, and yea, he's been whining forever. It's one thing to make a song like BITUS and have people make of it what they will, it's another to be running around acting like Bruce can sometimes. It DOES get tiring. Same thing with Mellencamp, who I guess has been angering a lot of concertgoers with a lengthy political film on this tour. Most people don't go to these shows expecting that... sure, maybe you'd expect it at a CSNY concert or something, but I digress.
It is certainly a valid form of artistic expression, X factor. The problem is keeping it within the bounds of the art form itself. I wouldn't go to hear a poet rap about his views, nor would I go to hear Springsteen orate about his. He can sing about them all he wants. I paid to hear him perform what he's good at.
That being said, I like Bruce, Mellencamp, and CSNY a lot. I just ignore the banter and enjoy the music for what it is. But I probably would be a little miffed if I paid money to see a concert and got some propaganda tape taking up 20 minutes of showtime or heard some blowhard musician waxing poetic instead of playin the guitar and singing.
X factor wrote:And while we're at, BORN IN THE USA IS a patriotic song- a DAMNED patriotic song. Everyone on here goes on and on about how important it is to support the troops? Well, peeps, that what that song IS! An ode to the forgotten soldiers of Viet Nam who came home to scorn and ridicule from all sides. Was it the jingoistic crap Reagan and George Will tried to make it into? Nope- but patriotism comes in lots of forms. Make no mistake- just because he's anti- Republican does NOT make him anti- American.
