Bruce will do just fine, thanks. Justin had his chance and they're STILL all over lawsuits and whatnot with that debacle. And nothing does NOT say "Superbowl Sunday" more than Hanah fucking Montana.

Football = JOE Montana
Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards = HANNAH Montana

*Standing Ovation*

The Superbowl marketing committee knows their demographic could give two shits about Hannah Montana. Unless they're going to start peddling Polly Pockets and Caboodles instead of Budweiser and Chevrolet. That'll happen.

I miss watching Joe. He was a cool dude.

We grown ups disagree! 8)

I won't attack Saint John, but there was a reason the songs from that time have lasted so long. Even a great number of the younger generation have embraced the music of that erea. Also I agree, less chance of "wardrobe malfunction" As far as the politics of singers, most of them have some interesting views of the world. Not that I agree with them, but if you base it on political grounds, you wouldn't listen to half of them. Maybe Saint John just doesn't care for his music, and that would be a personal choice.

Far better options!!!

You would rather see those two acts? Do you like them or are you just saying more sheeple would like them?

They're better people, more entertaining, and at this point, more talented than Bruce Screamsteen.

Yes there are better performers than Bruce Screamsteen. overrated

He also, unlike alot of his ilk, puts his money where his mouth is, with huge charitable gifts to food banks, habitat for humanity, etc...

Okay...fair point about the charity, and I was just trying to be excessive with the "billionaire thing", however he's been whining about this country my whole life. Wasn't he saying how bad things were in the 80's even? I just get tired of it. I'm sorry...I just do. You hear his fans mock when "Born in the USA" is used for patriotic reasons...but don't songs have multiple meanings to different people? You don't hear us criticizing the Sopranos for their usage of DSB by saying....ITS ABOUT PROSTITUTES YOU IDIOT. I feel like he and his fans get kinda swarmy.

Well said Eric, and yea, he's been whining forever. It's one thing to make a song like BITUS and have people make of it what they will, it's another to be running around acting like Bruce can sometimes. It DOES get tiring. Same thing with Mellencamp, who I guess has been angering a lot of concertgoers with a lengthy political film on this tour. Most people don't go to these shows expecting that... sure, maybe you'd expect it at a CSNY concert or something, but I digress.

It is certainly a valid form of artistic expression, X factor. The problem is keeping it within the bounds of the art form itself. I wouldn't go to hear a poet rap about his views, nor would I go to hear Springsteen orate about his. He can sing about them all he wants. I paid to hear him perform what he's good at.

That being said, I like Bruce, Mellencamp, and CSNY a lot. I just ignore the banter and enjoy the music for what it is. But I probably would be a little miffed if I paid money to see a concert and got some propaganda tape taking up 20 minutes of showtime or heard some blowhard musician waxing poetic instead of playin the guitar and singing.

I get where you're both coming from, I just believe you're wrong to accuse Bruce of this. In concert, he doesn't do lengthy political tirades, in fact on the MAGIC tour he only mentioned politics openly once, and it was at the beginning of LIVIN IN THE FUTURE> It's not like he spends the whole concert bashing America. Bruce has openly stated before he loves America, he simply gets pissed when he sees things he feels violate his image of what we should be as a country, as do we all, correct? He just happens to have a bigger platform to "rant" than most of us. Be honest- who amongst us HASN'T bashed a president on this forum? If not Bush, certainly Clinton. Quite frankly, I think both are deserving of our ire. I can't speak for Mellancamp as I haven't seen him since the LONESOME JUBILEE tour, but Bruce really doesn't do lengthy, Natalie Maines inspired political rants in his live show. Take that as gospel from one whose been there- a bunch!
He lets the music do the talking.
And while we're at, BORN IN THE USA IS a patriotic song- a DAMNED patriotic song. Everyone on here goes on and on about how important it is to support the troops? Well, peeps, that what that song IS! An ode to the forgotten soldiers of Viet Nam who came home to scorn and ridicule from all sides. Was it the jingoistic crap Reagan and George Will tried to make it into? Nope- but patriotism comes in lots of forms. Make no mistake- just because he's anti- Republican does NOT make him anti- American.

Plus, he kicks ass live! Mark it down- this will be the most watched halftime show ever!!!

"This is one of the most misinterpreted songs ever. Most people thought it was a patriotic song about American pride, when it actually cast a shameful eye on how America treated its Vietnam veterans. Springsteen considers it one of his best songs, but it bothers him that it is so widely misinterpreted. With the rollicking rhythm, enthusiastic chorus, and patriotic album cover, it is easy to think this has more to do with American pride than Vietnam shame.:

Couple tha excerpt and the fact that he appears to be pissing on the American flag on the album cover and I'll draw my own conclusion. And he felt so strongly about the legacy of the song that he allowed the fucking 2 Live Crew to do a parody of ait...Banned In The U.S.A. A bitching song about their filthy lyrics being censored.
