I must have missed that. Honestly, I'm not all that attached to that song, either (I don't hate it, but there are better in J's catalog), but I think the performance on that DVD is wicked ass awesome. 8)

I've been critical of that song for years...especially the recorded version. It's hollow. You can actually hear him singing in a contrived manner. He seems to be "trying" to sing the soong. It has no flow at all to it. Arnel dusts him with his live rendition because it has depth and feeling. Case in point..."How can our love be SOOO blind..."

Opinion noted and respected. The recorded version is what it is and whatever was done to it at the time of production, I dunno. Steve himself once said he never really got where he wanted to go on that tune.

But the one on the dvd still causes me to have to wipe up the chair and the floor around it. And on one occasion, the wall.

(Are you all totally grateful I shared that right before lunchtime? )

Probably because he was distracted by the other knuckleheads making fun of what was to become their biggest hit ever!!!

Perhaps you should steal one of those neat little barf bags off of your next flight. Less cleanup that way.

No, twerp, that's WHY you get leather seats... for easily aroused passengers. The cleanup is much more swift and easy. 8)

I find it amazing how people bash Steve at every turn. Man what got everyones panties in a wad against the man? I personally love his music, and I also like Arnel. It seems past members of the band get alot of respect around here. You site this performance or that performance, but I seen the man and heard him myself on two occasions. He was great! Many more love his work. If you don't that's O.K., but why tear the man down?

He's a kitten-beater. Total monster.
That fucker plays tennis with little baby bunnies instead of tennis balls.

Or at least you would think he did the way people tear into him.
Apparently leaving Journey... or some would say "fucking up the band while St. Neal and St. Jon" - no pun intended - "waited for him with their halos aglow"... was an unforgivable crime.

As I've said before, I actually enjoy Arnel's LIVE version of this song better than Perry's LIVE version. I've always hated the way Perry sung the chorus live. It just doesn't sound good.

Talking about Open Arms, apparently this Filipina singer's version of Open Arms is Number One in Singapore. Acoustic, lush, quite different.
