OT: Obligatory StickItMaster rant

Postby Rip Rokken » Fri Aug 15, 2008 12:05 am

How these crooks survive is beyond me... I go to buy my lawn ticket for Shoreline, and a $25 ticket costs me almost $50 by the time they add all their fees, including:

* A $10 "convenience charge" -- on a $25 ticket! Who's convenience is it for? Theirs, obviously...

* Another $5-$6 processing charge -- isn't that kinda what the convenience charge should be?

* $2.50 for the ability to print my own freaking ticket, when they'll mail it to me for free and guarantee it arrives within 48 hours before showtime. How's that gonna help when I'll be in freaking California? Another fear-induced charge for sure. If you want faster shipping, the prices are ridiculous against the value of the ticket.

* Taxes and addl. fees.

And finally, they try to sell me "ticket insurance" for an extra $6!!!!

I HATE STICKITMASTER!!!!

This is exactly why you should have bought your ticket through the Heart fan club!!! They charge you face value+$9...that's it. For example, a $125 ticket cost me $134 exactly. No fees. Heart does it right. You pay an annual $30 fee and then you actually save money if you go to more than 1 show!!! The fees on a $125 ticket would have probably been well over $25 dollars and seeing that I will have seen 8-10 shows this tour I've probably saved around $200. Thank you, Heart!!! Journey should make a note of this. :wink:

Thanks for that info, Cyndy. I think what they need to do is a Cyndy Poon and Lora Beard reunion tour. The fleecing of the fans has gone on long enough. They need people running their fan club with a connection to the fans rather than the cold and distant ILAA thing they currently have which is nothing more than a cash grab. Those prices are absurd. I hate to put you on the spot, but if by some chance you were asked to do that, would you?

I think they're missing a golden opportunity to reconnect with their fans. I guess it's not all bad, though. You'd have me sitting in the balcony I'm sure...if you even let me in the venue!!! :lol: :twisted: :wink: :oops:

I think you should start a thread fully exploring the the length, breadth and depth of Tito's cheapness. You can't float that idea out there without an explanation... Exactly how cheap is he?

I believe the cheapest tickets for Journey's second show at the GREEK start at $55 plus $10 fee for the last row of bench seats at the back of the theatre. $25 plus $10 for lawn seats doesn't sound too bad to me in comparison. I believe the first show sold out in twenty minutes hence a second show that actually takes place two days before the first scheduled show.

Long before the internet, we used to have to wait in line for a while to get tickets. One early morning, we had gone to Daytons to get our Motley Crue tickets. We got there 4 hours early and ended up being 3-4 in line. By the time it was 10am, some lady came out with a bag with numbers in it and told us we all had to draw to see who went in first. :shock: :shock: :shock: :evil: :evil: :evil: People were completely PISSED to say the least. She said if we had a problem with it, go to the end of the line and talk to management. Some jacknut who just got out of his car got number 1 and the number 2 was some idiot that got there 3 minutes before him. I ended up 20 something. Damn right we filed complaints and Daytons stood by their decision saying it was to discourage people from camping out overnight to get tickets... I asked them if they thought they really had any say in that or not... Isn't it the PEOPLES choice to do so? I'm so glad there's internet now...

So this is a serious observation -- the "convenience charge" is our convenience? The convenience of being able to avoid the long lines for hours to get decent seats? That makes logical sense - but I still don't think it's something they should charge for that way.
