Ditto. The remastered Frontiers with those 2 on wins out. But if I have to go with the original releases I'd probably say Escape.

So then why aren't we discussing Liberty as well? THAT song is killer sweet awesome. :D 8)

(I think I still pick Escape though)

Gawd you're right, I love Liberty. That solidifies it. :D Mind you, could I bring Still They Ride over to Frontiers? All time favorite Journey song! :D

I'm with SJ and Deb on this one.

Yeah well, they don't make ridiculous faces, they don't care if you shave your legs and they don't put in half-effort for 10 minutes and then go "You done yet?"

I used to think that Escape was definitely the best album. It was my favorite and it was the catalyst to my years of devotion. But a year or two ago I listed to both Escape and Frontiers back-to-back. Due to years of repitition playing them live or hearing them on the radio I found myself skipping quite a few songs on Escape. I started skipping Open Arms MANY years ago. I was so glad it was the last song on the album. But I don't care if I EVER hear DSB again. And WCN has become a snoozer. But put in Frontiers and it is a straight through...even Back Talk. There is nothing I feel the need to skip. So, of the two, Frontiers has withstood the test of time and gets my vote.

And yet this is considered their benchmark, their masterpiece, by so many people! Hell, I personally think Departure is Journey firing on ALL CYLINDERS! (But then I am a bigger fan of the Rolie era)

E5C4P3 by many many miles.while i loved the slower stuff like who's crying now, still they ride and mother father on escape i really couldn't get into the slower tunes on frontiers like i did escape.the rockers are also edgier and more powerful on escape where on frontiers things were starting to get too radio oriented.i definitely think when cain joined the band thats when they started to explode commercially and write more radio friendly material.while escape is my all time favorite it was the last full album i could listen to all the way through.from frontiers on up there were some amazing tunes throughout each album but i didn't find myself spinning frontiers and ROR front to back like earlier releases such as escape, captured, departure, evolution or infinity.starting on frontiers i think they were almost trying to start being more of a singles band and it was more about individual tunes or radio play than an album oriented type thing.my favorite tune on frontiers is the hard edged rubicon which comes at the very end.

Color me Blind...or is it Color Me Badd, but I've always enjoyed Infinity-Departure era best......

And you know what doesn't get much play?

Fucking 'Daydream' from Evolution....Killer song. Killer vocals.

I love both records, but Escape is my favorite Journey album of all time. There are probably more songs on Frontiers that make the grade, but the ones on Escape that I love are so strong that they sway my vote, and always have. Best track on Escape for me is Escape. LOVE that song. Stone In Love is a very strong second.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Not trying to be contrary, honest. "Open Arms" is just such a special Journey song and so unique to the band. I still hear it on the radio more than any other Journey song, It has iconic stature, imo.
Gotta go with Escape.
