That Journey sound...Giuffria?

Postby Abitaman » Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:17 am

On the way home yesterday Listened to Giuffria's first cd, then a concert of theirs today. They can sound very Journey like. The show I got posted is the best of the 3 shows I have of them, and to me very Journey like at times. Download and listen, and let me know what you think.

Artwork is with the download.

Poll should be "Does Giuffria sound like Journey?" Not the mistake I made on it.

At the end of “Call to your heart” I'm waiting for him to say “Suzanne”.

The first cd I have is a tape to cd burn I did. The tape was getting worn, and was not able to find the release on cd anywhere. Shame.

Call To Your Heart and Lonely In Love are the two most Perry sounding songs on the cd

I was noticing that he doesn't start off a line sounding like Steve....it is towards the END of any line, and when he 'forces' his voice. And when I say 'force' I don't mean forcing his voice to be like SP's on purpose....just like straining for more power. Or when he is sustaining a note, again, at the end of a line.

that's all.....

My thoughts exactly, with the ROR sounding strain.

I think he sounds a lot like him, the high notes are very similar.

Isn't the question supposed to read "Does Giuffria sound like Journey?"

They sound a lot like Journey. But my first thought watching this video, was........since when did Rudy Sarzo play guitar in Guffria???! Spitting image of a young Rudy.

Guiffria sounded a lot like Journey. Wish they would re-release their first two albums on CD. I really liked this band.

Some of their keyboard work is very Styx like. On first listen, I could really get into this band.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

That actually recalls Arnel Pineda's description of how his own voice behaves,
although it's not so much when he digs deep for power, but when he has to soar in pitch,
that his voice naturally leans toward sounding very Perry-ish.

I used to think so but then I heard the band After Hours whose vocalist is much more 'on the money'. I now think Guffria sound much ore like The Storm overall.
Thanks for the concert upload though it will go nicely with the two Guffria albums I have. :D
