I love Tesla, but one question? How is Jeff's voice holding up? He was sounding overly gravelly on the last one or two youtubes I've heard, unless that was just a one off.

Sounds awesome to me... he also sounded great when I caught him three years ago too, so it can't be too much production magic.

I think they're playing stuff half a step down on this DVD, maybe they made that adjustment?

Jeff is a great singer but to me Tesla is more about rockin out in general and if they're playing loud and hard it's going to be a good show even if he's off a bit. But hey, so far, he sounds great. He's definitely not in Joe Elliott decline.

Hey now, Joe Elliot kicked ass vocally last week! He reaches almost every note still. I'd say that from what I've heard, although I haven't heard much from Tesla, Joe and Jeff are about the same today - they both hit most of the notes but you can tell that it's not easy.

I still love seeing DL but Joe visibly and audibly struggles live. Luckily, the rest of them are such great singers that it helps cover it. Plus, they downtune for his comfort. Not to mention all the crazy echo and effects on DL vocals are a natural disguise.

Tesla and DL will always rock as long as they're turned up LOUD, imo, regardless of Jeff/Joe's performance on a given night.

Now you wanna really talk about bands that should hang it up on account of their singer, look at The Who - Daltrey is just sad nowadays. Caught them on Vh1 a few nights ago. Unwatchable.

its amazing the different opinions of peoples voice
to me joe has struggled atleast since slang
have not seen a very good show vocally from him in awhile
and last year cincy was the first show.
jeff from tesla has always had one of those voices that sounds like it going to go out any minute, but never does
seen them about 40 times, and the only bad show vocally was when he had a cold.

He sounded awful on the youtube of that Fire Station concert, but then I've heard since that he was quite sick at that benefit?

i think there wer monitor issues at that show, or just a poor mix, because everybody sounded bad except eric martin for the vh1 broadcast, saw them later in the week and jeff said the entire band had caught a bug in texas the week before, and he sounded a little off but much better than the station thing

But of course!  Mind you, I wasn't impressed with whoever that was singing background on EM's song, he was extremely monotone. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm2wFs0-oDw

I've never had the opportunity to see Tesla, live. :(
