Man, the right is reaching with the same desperation as the Democrats in '84 and '88. Fingers through your sand.

This forum is hoppin' tonight. It's busier than St. John at an all-you-can-eat sorority party.

Yet only Olbermann's show is representative of Democratic ideals. On the other side of the aisle, you have dozens of conservative disinformation talk show specialists (Hannity, O'Reilly, Katz, Limbaugh, et cetera). Still, more Americans identify with left-leaning principles than do not. That means that horde of overly represented right-wing hosts and TV shows is speaking to an ever-diminishing audience.

I think if you did a study, you would find a slight majority of Americans are center to slightly right, rather than left.

It's kinda like that oft-argued liberal point saying most Americans are "pro-choice". Well, yeah, most Americans may identify themselves as pro choice but if you question their actual beliefs about the abortion issue, I think you'll find that a majority actually end up identifying with pro-life positions.

The wishy-washy middle. I scored a 35 for Obama, and 31 for McCain.

An outsider's thoughts:

Upwards of 90% of black Amercians will vote for Obama simply because he's black.
On the other hand many white Americans won't vote for Obama because he offers few specifics, policywise.
Guess which group gets blasted as "racist"?

I'll admit, most of my brown and yellow kin in the US are voting McCain.

I was raised in a conservative household, but have become more and more liberal in my views and beliefs as I've gotten older. A few issues I side with the Republicans on, but mostly I see see things from the other side these days. Personally...I think this country is *ucked...with a capital "F". Things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better. Regardless of who becomes the president this time around. IMO...the energy issue just may be the greatest challenge that this country faces. Drilling more wells in the gulf won't cut it either.

Anyway, I thought this was a music forum!!??

The energy crisis is a fraud. Created by Bush and his cronies. He's trying to make nice right now and you'll notice they're talking about a plan to withdraw the troops from Iraq, which should have never been invaded, and gas prices are now coming down. Just wait, they'll probably find bin Laden also. Complete frauds.

Nope...We also need to drill more wells in the oil shale in the west, ANWR, and other places, not to mention alternative sources of energy like wind, solar, nuclear, etc.

Precisely. The problem with the OSD is that it won't impact SD for 5-10 years.

I thought that, too, until recently but I now think that's an urban legend. I've heard it could be as soon as 2-3 years in many places.

Either way, I now support it (and I changed my mind before Obama).

You forgot to mention that there is a VERY large percentage of people who won't vote for Obama, for no other reason, other than he's not white! I used to live in the south, and these racist fuckers (Joe Q. Public) used to get on the evening news and proudly say "I would never vote for a black man"! I couldn't believe that the local news would even put these people on the air! Truly frightening, for 1988...let alone 2008!

The biggest problem is actually refining capacity in the US.
My younger brother actually works on an oil rig out in the gulf off the coast of Mississippi, and he has told me that we pump thousands of gallons of oil out of the gulf, but the problem is that we have to basically "export" the oil out of the country, have it refined elsewhere, then "import" it back in,because we don't have the refining capacity here. Not only do we need to "drill here, drill now" we also need to build refineries, but our hands are tied in doing that as well. Also as far as the environmental argument is concerned, there hasn't been any spills from the rigs during the hurricane season(s) either. There are governmental bodies (such as the EPA and several others that my brother has told me about, but I can't remember their names) that are CONSTANTLY inspecting rigs, to ensure there are no problems that could cause a spill.

If the private sector was given the go ahead to build more refineries and start drilling, I guarantee that companies would be working around the clock to get refineries up and running.
It would also be good for the economy since it would create hundreds of new jobs. With EPA standards and drilling technologies that are available, it would have very little, if any impact on the environment. As far as ANWR is concerned, the drilling area in question, is about the size of a postage stamp on a football field.,and Alaskans have been SCREAMING for us to start drilling there to create some MUCH NEEDED jobs in Alaska. I feel that it's their state, and should be able to do so.Put the issue on a ballot and let the people decide.

Just my 2 cents.

Wasn't there also a rumor going around last week that McCain was going to pick Lieberman (A Democrat) to be on the ticket???? I heard if he makes that choice, Republicans are going to rebell against him. I guess we'll know by Friday. Supposedly, he's making the announcement on his SEVENTY SECOND birthday (old fuck). Hell, I thought Reagan was old

Not one Republican has managed to balance the budget since Nixon. Reagan included. And don't give me this whole "Reagan tried to keep the out-of-control over-spending Democrats in check" bullshit, because he actually proposed $453 billion MORE in spending in his 8 years than the Spendocrats actually approved. Pure and simple...Clinton was more fiscally conservative than Reagan, George H., or Bush's imbecile of a son. Democrats know how to balance budgets.
