T-Bone...
I hope your daughter is doing much better! That certainly is some scary stuff! I've been fortunate that I've only had to take my daughter to the ER once in 8 years. Her pediatrician's office is very good about returning those late night/early morning calls. She's had a couple of suspected injuries, and they told me to bring her in to the office rather than going to the ER (during regular office hours).

On a related note, is there any pattern to when your daughter gets these symptoms? My daughter started getting "colds" in the spring and fall right from birth, and she wasn't in daycare. I was told by the ped that she was too young to have allergies. Guess what! She has allergies! Every April/May and September/October without fail, the girl has severe allergy symptoms. It never fails that I get a call from the school nurse because of it.

No. 'Nuclear' green (or yellow) snot is usually a clear sign of an infection.

Wow, T-Bone that's a pretty lousy state of affairs. For once the National Health Service in the UK doesn't seem quite so bad.

Yes, my wife and I do. We're on a newer program of theirs that allows us to choose between going to Kaiser or our own docs. We use their urgent care when we can as the co-pay is cheaper and the pharmacy is right downstairs (since we're going to be there anyways).

Their service has been outstanding!

Indeed it is... And she suffers with it for about a week and 3 doctor visits later before the doctor finally says "Well... maybe it is a sinus infection"

T-bone, sorry to hear about your little one's troubles.

A question: do you or your wife smoke? If not, is your daughter in any other situation where she is exposed to cigarette smoke, like perhaps her daycare? Or friends or family members who smoke around her?

I ask because kids that are exposed to cigarette smoke are far more likely to have URIs (upper respiratory infections) than those who are not...
