I think Al was one of the first truly FAST guitar players with a rock tone. Up until Yngwie he was probably the fastest most accurate player I'd heard. Elegant Gypsy CD opened my eyes to what truly amazing guitar playing could be like.

By the way, Jan Hammer plays on Elegant Gyspy if you happen to like his sound.

I remember ADM being called one of the fastest guitar players in the world. I wasn't into jazz at all then so really didn't get into his stuff.

Thanks to Smitty I'm getting to know some jazz though. (minus Kenny G though, I cringe at that stuff).

Love Holdsworth but have to be in the mood for that kind of music. Some of his CD's are better than others. Saw him along time ago in a club in Boston. Holy Shit! I couldn't believe my eyes. He is undoubtably one of the best who ever lived.
