I never knew that a recipe was different between the two types. What I knew was that the soup is basically all the same, you can just either add fish (shrimp), baboy (pork), or baka (beef). I always ate sinigang baka, because if you eat too much of the baboy it's not good for you, because they put all the baboy in there, not just the meat. I wasn't used to seeing cubed pieces of pork that had all three layers of flesh on it...the dermis, epidermis and fatty layer.

Pandesal is like dinner rolls, but they cook them at about 2am in the morning. We'd go out to where they bake them and get a big bag of them, you could get over 25 pandesal for 50 pesos back then. 50 P was the equivalant to about $1.50 back then (80's). We'd then walk around all together with a group of us friends sharing the bag of hot pandesal with each other and visiting friends all over the place, in clubs, out on the street, at their houses. There is lots of activities going on in the middle of the night cause it's not as hot during that time as it is in the day time. That's the reason for all the night owl activity over there.

But eating those two things are the best thing to do when you got a cold or something wrong like that. Cause the sinigang sooths the throat and gives the body energy and the pandesal gently rubs the throat on the way down and helps clear the green flem.
