Rip, what's your SL name? I'll friend you. I'm Athene Kirax. Anyone that has an avatar here... friend me!

Sarah, is that your SL avatar?

I'm sorry SL people, I just don't get it. Why spend your time there in make-believe land when you could spend quality time here on MR?

From what I was told, apparently so! It sounds as if it can get very crazy in there -- close-ups, and all sorts of maneuvers. I'm skeered to go back!

MG you are not alone! LOL! I have 3 or 4 sites I visit, and nothing where anything is virtual! LOL! I don't get the cyber dating stuff, that is so dangerous! I am married and have no use for that kind of thing anyway! This is pretty funny to be on the outside of all this and reading about what goes on.

Cyndy putting a cupcake through her leg..........priceless! LOL! Sounds like one of my odd drawings! But my worlds I draw keep me too buisy for cyber worlds! Fun to see what kind of tech. is out there though! :D

Yes it is my avatar. I was inspired to put a pic since Rip did, and also because of this thread...

I don't get SL either when it comes to just standing around and chatting... like you say, we could just do that on a forum... but the virtual shopping and exploring aspects are great.

Rip, I added you!

Hey! So sorry -- I was tied up for a second and you were gone before I returned. My pals think I'm crazy because I happened upon an island with a beautiful mansion by chance after surfing and getting lost, and decided to claim it for myself. My new SL rule is "Finder's keepers", so I will be living there until the owner shows up to try to kick me out... LOL! I also discovered I have a nice pair of black angel wings which I enjoy wearing while flying around. A Dokken shirt and a set of Angel wings... doesn't get any better than that! And hey... check out my new pal Dokken Angel!

If you're kidding, then LOL. If not... I don't recommend that if you want to keep your account. Anyone hard core enough to have a mansion probably has spy scripts etc, and will know their house is being squatted. SL people take it hyper serious. I'm kind of happy to say its not a place where I fit in.

Sadly, SL is where the deviants go. There's really a large den of psychos that inhabit that place...and it's nearly impossible to discern between the nutjobs and the ones that are looking to have fun.

I'll admit, I've become an addict of this sorta thing, but not @ Second Life.....but on Pirates Online. It's got the same SL atmosphere, but without the people having virtual sex all over the place or the overly serious psychos.....instead, it's more like a video game with Second Life 'attributes.'

At times, I can go in there and satisfy the video-game urge....by blasting ships, plundering, shooting bad guys or simply following the missions. But other times, you can go in and network with other 'pirates' or play poker in one of the pubs or whatever...

It's a far less deviant (i.e. pyscho) alternative to SL.

Agreed. That's why I'm in the same line of thinking with people like cyndy... if I know you outside SL, I'll talk to ya. Otherwise I'm left to assume you're a fake, a nutjob, a perv or a squirrely ass character who seriously needs to go outside more. (or more likely all of the above.

Initially, I thought it was like "The Sims" except with instant messaging. (and doesn't love the Sims? ) Admittedly, I was dead wrong.

LOL... No, I'm kinda not kidding... It is either a model home or is for sale, because it's gorgeous but completely empty save for a roaring fireplace. I like it because since there is no furniture, my video refresh rate stay high and I can actually move around. Did you know that Mexico apparently has some really convoluted land ownership rules, and if you leave a house abandoned for too long, someone else can come and claim it? If someone tries to kick me out he's in for a world-class ass whooping! Have you seen my wings? I be a god! (by the way, the picture of Dokken Angel was taken in that house)

Ok, for anyone even remotely taking me seriously... you should never do so. It's just a joke that I am carrying out as far as I can... But I will visit that place often.

Actually, there's a similar property law here in the states as well, called "adverse possession." While I'm no lawyer and don't claim to know everything about this...from what I understand, if a squatter openly resides on another's property for a certain long period of time, uncontested, said squatter can claim ownership...

And to that extent, dude....you're squatting on my avatar and I am contesting your use of it unless licensing fees are paid! ;)

Its a long time frame before you can legally get posession - 10 years (may vary by state)... and you have to prove long term uncontested dwelling / posession (i.e. having mail delivered, etc.).

And I doubt cartoonland subscribes to such laws.

Rip your catoon guy can come live with my cartoon chick and buy her things and be her cartoon platonic mate. In turn my cartoon chick will walk around naked once a week for you. (she's hot!)

Agreed. Its so surprising that people aren't smarter than to get mixed up with that stuff or that they trust so damn easily. The line between real life and online gets blurred and they end up making the internet their reality or their home to the point where literlly the only people they interact with are anonymous online personalities.

Can you build/rez on the land? If not... there's no point being there cause you can't do anything...

You're right..It's 10 years in NYS, but I also know it can be as small as 5 years or as large as 15 in some states...

These characters on the site are so funny! You guys, (cyndy not included) made fun of my surrealistic artwork? Call me weird? LOL! Dancing bunny gal and a girl with a chest that defies gravity with butterfly wings! And you call me odd! LOL! Apparently your imaginations go to play here!

Moonie, your rhetoric is second to none. Most are loquacious where you are taciturn yet you get the point across so clearly. You always make me giggle. That one had me cackling like a hen. I agree completely!

Our boy's turned into quite the manwhore, eh? Tsk, and shaved his head... my attraction draws to a close lest it regrows. Hair fetish, ya know. Still one of the most talented guitarist/songwriters. Period. 8)

Sorry to hijack here folks but I must reply to Hussy on Mr Mayer.....

Would you believe I have not seen the shaved scalp, Hubby Bub told me of it and
I've been avoiding the look see.
Though I really liked the Room For Squares head shots, shorter than that hair does not seem
so sweetly to me somehow.
I'm afraid to look.....it is just hair however, maybe I would melt seeing it.....hmmm probably not.

Oh yeah? Not as close-up as in Thailand with "Face Jam". That's in Thailand.....you put on this glass mask that has this really really long and wide nose with a light at the end of it. You look down the nose while your face jamming her with it.
