I don't own the copyright to the songs I have recorded, and in the UK I would have to pay the composers a fee to make money from selling CD's of me singing my interpretations of their songs. It's ok to let people hear samples, as long as I am not receiving money for that. So I would never do that. They created them, not me. And I can't afford to pay to 'borrow' the songs.
I'm just a jobbing musician singing covers for my living. I am allowed to make money from performing them live because the venues I play at pay a yearly license which sends a contribution to the Performing Rights Society in the UK which ensures the composers receive their royalty for the songs when I perform them live.
Of course, I could post some links via MailBigFile for you to hear.
I have recordings of a few songs, I'll see if I can remember how to do it.
I have my versions of Open Arms [Journey, obviously], and the jazzy stuff - Fever, Cry Me A River, The Look Of Love and Summertime.
Hope the links work.
