More negative points from me for the McCain camp.

The Bangladeshi girl McCain adopted was on deaths doorstep when John and Cindy saw her and decided they couldn't /wouldn't leave her to die. How is that a negative ? I think its a class act? I assume you are joking[/quote]

No, I wasn't joking, but the expalnayion is a valid one. I was of the mindset that they decided to go out and adopt some 3rd world child and use it as a self-promotional tool a la that skank Angelina Jolie...who does it for the sole purpose of staying trendy with those in Hollyweird. Then it would have been a negative.

To my knowledge, they've never used it publically. Yesterday was the first I'd heard of it and I've known about John McCain for a long time now.

I never knew that either -- or that he had sons fighting in Iraq. I respect his modesty. I told my husband this lastnight -- if McCain wins, it will be because of Sarah Palin. Up until she came on board, most of the Republican support he had was luke warm. It is now red hot. We moved to another county a little over a year ago and I never registered to vote until this week. I'm voting for her, not McCain. :D

Yeah - I lived in AZ for years where the McCains were on TV daily and I've never heard that either.

Actually...even though I don't like Biden much...who cares?

I bet there are moments in your life you wouldn't want taped either...probably some of them with you being drunk.

If we are going to criticize the liberals in this country for their attacks on our candidates as being over the line, then we have to make sure our behavior is above reproach, otherwise we look like hypocrites.

I don't care if on vacation Joe Biden had too much to drink and started singing, that is what vacations are for. I do care that he called his own nominee "Uprepared to be President".

No, but Bush and Rove did to great effect back in 2000 ("illegitimate black baby," anyone?) .
So much so, Cindy was reportedly driven to tears.
McCain's response?
He hired Rove's personal protege to run his 2008 campaign.

Nope.
This was a repeat of 2004 all over again.
The Dems are playing softball and going along as if some threshold of civility actually exists on the other side of the aisle.
Though he was nowhere to be seen on the convention floor, last night the falstaffian spectre of Karl Rove loomed large.
Trashy stuff.

All they can do is talk about hope and change, because there's no substance or experience with Obama. They can't talk about what he wants to do or what he has done. They can't talk about the people that he knows, his fundraisers or mentors. Hope and change. Seriously what did you expect them to do?

Obama offered numerous details and actually has a link on the web which gets very specific.

All the Hockey Mom offered was more hate...attempting to foster distrust instead of actually delivering ANY ideas.

I believe McCain will state his case well, because he has always been a principled man. Hockey Mom just reads a teleprompter well. If you just look at the transcript without the delivery, there are NO ideas...just hateful rhetoric.

Dude she's just the vp pick. McCain is the one who's supposed to set the policy.
I think it's hilarious how the dems are going so far out of their way in proving that the TOP of their ticket is more qualified that the BOTTOM of the Republican ticket.

I'd have to agree. That's why Dave and I agreed she was a brilliant choice. It takes another weapon out of the Democrats' arsenal.

I'll be curious to see what kind of bounce this convention has.

To be honest I see it being back and forth until the debates start. McCain will wipe the floor with a teleprompter Obama and Palin will beat Biden, firstly because she's right. Secondly cuz you can't hit the girl. He'll come off as a total ass.

You still operate under the impression that attacking Clinton somehow offends me.
Most of Clinton's accomplishments were deregulatory in the style of Reagan.
Including repealing the very FDR-era firewall which helped bring about the recent subprime mortgage mess.
He was one of yours.

Fact Finder wrote:But to deny that the networks don't have a lib bias means that you are an uber liberal.

LOL.
No, it simply means I have taken a milisecond to actually think thru the implications of what you're claiming.
Most of what we read and hear is owned by HUGE conglomerates (Time Warner, Disney, Viacom, CBS Corporation, News Corp, GE) that want to increase profits. The only common ideology shared across multibillion transnational bureaucracies is worshipping mammon.
Even MSNBC's recent left-lean was driven by (surprise!) improved ratings and $$$.

Fact Finder wrote:Knowing you like Kucinich seals that deal. You are in a far greater minority than you realize.

Like bashing that g-damned mythical liberal media, hating Kucinich is another accepted article of faith by the right.
I wouldn't expect you to be able to corroborate sound reasons for either.

Most of the GOP convention proceedings are in the same vindicitive tone as that Paris Hilton ad put out a few weeks ago.
This is a repeat of 2004 (in which Bob Shrum told everyone at the DNC convention to "stay positive and not attack the president.")
Once again, the Dems are playing pattycake.

People who don't work and mooch off the government their entire lives generally don't have backbones. So they will continue to acquiesce.

The teleprompter messed up, she winged alot of that speach in a flawless way. She was just introducing herself and standing up against the mean things said against her by the Obama camp. She will lay down her thoughts later. Obama wants socialism. Nationalized health care will bankrupt this country, and we will get sub par care. Ask any Vet if they have wonderful care, the government screws up everything they get their hands on. I used to be a millitary wife and I watched children with broken hands waiting for 4 hours to get any kind of care! No pain killer, nothing! I had to have my galbladder out, and almost died from it. The doctor sent me for an ultrasound of my galbladder. The radiologist said no matter what he says ask to see a surgeon! Your galbladder is about to rupture any moment! I went back to see the doctor who looked at the radiologists results, and wanted to send me home with a bottle of malanta. I asked to see a surgeon. He fought with me but set the appointment. The surgeon touched my side, and said this has to go! I was doubled over in pain, I could not even stand up! I don't trust Government run health care. We need health care reform, not government running it!

Government-run health care, in its present status, is a gift from the Republicans. The Democrats have been pushing for MUCH HIGHER benefits in every respect for almost two decades, with little success.

And I'm sorry - did you say "mean things"? You mean questioning Troopergate Alaska? Or reporting on her daughter? I have yet to see any "mean" intention from any media source. Overblown, yes. But we still no nothing about this woman other than she can read a good old hate-filled Rove speech.
