MMMMM Mad Dog MMMMMM

Or "Club Mix" (Imported from New York) as it was called in Maine...

Actually I saw Jani with Warrant back in 01, okay show, but they weren't headliners, and when they were forced into it (Poison cancelled) they really struggled to fill a 90 minute set!

Jani was sober that night though!

jani was INCREDIBLE on bob coburns rock line!!! all live singing..

Larry, though no doubt many will disagree, I've always thought Jani was an exceptional song writer and singer. Dog Eat Dog is a great album/performance, along with many good tunes prior to that. They got hammered when they did Cherry Pie, but there was a lot more depth to that band than that particular song. I Saw Red is a GREAT song with excellent lyrics.
It's not a lie, if you believe it..........

I agree about Jani's talent, & it's sad some only think of their DRFSR days & Cherry Pie (the song) & completely miss their other music. Cherry Pie the album has some great songs...Mr. Rainmaker, Blind Faith, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Song and Dance Man, great songs. The album Dog Eat Dog has some killer stuff on it...Let It Rain, All My Bridges Are Burning, The Bitter Pill, & others, great songs. I've seen them live a couple times, quite a while ago though, and Jani sounded great & was a great frontman.

Melissa, I agree whole-heartedly. There's alot of great music on those warrant albums....but they were overshadowed by some over-pumped releases that killed the band's chances for success on the long term.

I found it interesting to note that the band's second album was going to be called Uncle Tom's Cabin, when A&R reps at their label put their foot down and refused to release it until a hit single was added. Aparently Jani wrote Cherry Pie to satisfy the label's demand...

Very similar to what happened with Winger on their second release. The album was delivered to the label without 2 or 3 tracks that are currently on the album. IIRC, the songs in question were Easy Come Easy Go, Cant Get Enough, and possibly Miles Away. The label demanded some more radio friendly hits, these songs were added to the album and boom...that was the makeup of the singles from the album. If you listen to In The Heart Of The Young without those 2-3 songs, you hear a very different album. In fact, an album that is more in line with the progression the band made from the first release to IV, where they got heavier and moodier as they went along. That's part of the reason why the transition from ITHOTY to Pull is so drastic. Remove those three singles from ITHOTY and you have a better progression.

Yep, I remember an interview where he talked about the album being called Uncle Tom's Cabin, and the song Cherry Pie wasn't even on there, let alone that being the title. Very true about Winger too, another underrated band 8)

If the Winger dude woudla quit posing for 5 minutes, maybe peeps would've actually LISTENED to them. Thanks Mtv! God... I remember Perry saying how (oh god, it all comes back to him!) videos were crap because it just put THAT image in your head instead of what the song could actually mean to a person. So true. The other thing, Mtv built up these bands... and then they were the first to tear them down. I wish that channel would just go away.

And it took YEARS before Jani accepted Cherry Pie (the song) for what it was.....

BTW, another album title for Cherry Pie was Love in Stereo but they were worried people would think it was all ballads.
