Tell me about it, it's the same way here in South Florida. Ya know what really pisses me off? You'll see the various radio station vans parked out front as you enter the concerts and they'll kiss the band's ass and play a couple of NEW tunes the week of the concert and then you'll never hear them played again. Very typical of the CLASSIC ROCK formatted stations. Someone at the top dictates or thinks they know what the majority of the public wants to hear. Ummm..NO THEY DON'T!
"Classic Rock" radio only praise band's new material when the band is in town and they want to interview them. As soon as they leave, the station goes back to playing old, tired stuff and never talk about a band's NEW album, and even slag the band. They're really missing the boat and cutting their own throats. They should play the old stuff AND their new stuff. Soon, the new stuff will be 'classic'. It's a way of perpetuating the format and they ignore it. Our Seattle Classic rock station is super bad about this. They'll rank on a band all day, but when the band comes to town, they want to be first in line for an interview. Stupid aholes. I won't listen to them because every song they play is the same one you heard yesterday.
"Radio killed the Radio Star".
