$5.15 near me from 3.75 this am in Louisville, Ky... WTF kind of bs is this... I have to drive 20 miles each way to work... Someone answer this...

We have had hurricanes in the gulf many times and they didnt cause prices to change much if any until Katrina (that bitch). Now every single time there is so much as rumor of a hurricane in that area prices skyrocket.

Why ? I think I know and it is just simple stealing from the American people.. Any excuse they can use...

Today a pigon Sh!T on a tanker truck near Houston, Texas sending speculators to predict that gas prices would be at least 50 cents higher in the next few days as a result....

2. Strip the skin off of their shins and pour salt and everclear on the exposed muscle and sinue to extract confessions.

3. Allow people to line up, squat over them and **** right in their mouths.

4. Remove their genitals and let them go..

When Katrina hit while I was in college outside Asheville, NC our major pipeline was shut off and gas shot from $2.30 to $4.07 within a day. Stayed like that for a couple of weeks too... of course, now I'm used to paying over $4 and don't think anything of it. But I did make a pact with my Dad in April that if gas hit $5/gallon I'd move home. I hope it doesn't go up that much here...

Gas had already gone up here in the Indianapolis area from about $3.55/gallon to $3.95/gallon in just one day. I haven't been out of my office since I got here this morning so it'll be interesting to see what the prices are on the way home.

Gas has been in very short supply in the Chicago markets which includes IL, N. IND, Mich and Ohio. due to the impacts of Gustof shutting down the crude oil line from the gulf and a few assorted issues. Gulf Coast refineries are all shutting down now and will not be producing gas/diesel. If they sustain no damage, it will take a week to 10 days to start up again to capacity. Refineries learned their lesson from Rita/Katrina where a lot of them had to do unplanned shut downs and sustained a lot of damage and were unable to come back up.

Buy gas now and just hope this is short lived, since it may not be price that is the issue.

I filled up earlier this week at $3.43/gal. I live one mile from where I work, and really don't drive much otherwise. That gas should get me through three to four weeks. Hopefully by then the gas will come back down a bit again.

I am downtown at work right now. The word came from some folks at work that live in E-town and got calls from their spouses telling them to go get gas NOW..... It went from 3.65 to 3.99 while I was at Thorntons at 2nd and Broadway getting cigs... There was a traffic jam that went from 1st and Broadway down to 4th that lead to Thorntons.... People are just freaking out.. Overreaction if you ask me.

I was told 5.15 in e-town.. Might be an isolated case of gouging. The state government put out something this am to stop gouging so if you see it report it to the attn generals office....

Bush has about as much to do with gas prices as YOU do. Now, if you want to do this to the speculators (And there was a recent study that shows they certainly ran the price of oil through the roof http://wdef.com/blog/reports_blames_spe ... es/09/2008 ) I am all for it.

But please, the President didn't have a damn thing to do with the oil prices going through the roof.

$3.82 for regular here. I had to fill up the Mustang which only takes plus or premium, so I had to pay $3.97 for my gas AND couldn't go over 10 gallons.

This is a classic example of us screwing ourselves.... did the retailers pay more for gas when the raised it, no. do the gas people see a easy way to panic people...yes.. what you are witnessing is the classic downfall of the American society. there is always and will be plenty of freaking gas. and oil. but let a bird crap on a platform in the gulf, and the prices go up.

If your going to call me an ignoramus, please try to spell it right.

I didn't say we get most of our oil from Afghanistan or Iraq. I said we get most of our oil from Arabic nations. They collectively export more oil to the U.S. than any non Arabic nation. Afghanistan has oil pipelines all over the country. We don't get it directly from Afghanistan, but it plays a big roll in the oil industry. It's widely speculated that the war in Afghanistan is oil related.

Arkansas Governor declares state of emergency

" ... "If gas prices go up more than 10 percent after the proclamation of an emergency," a station owner could be in violation of Arkansas Code 4-88-303, which outlaws price gouging, Allen said. "It's not unlawful to raise prices if you can prove that the rise is directly attributable to increases in the cost of supplies. ... "

Please don't enter a debate without researching you look like an ignoramous.

BTW...we are forbidden by LAW from buy oil from Iran. Just as an FYI.

C'mon Stu. Rick's not dumb. I think he's just another casualty of the whole "class warfare" debate. Evil rich people looking to screw him over. My mom's kinda the same way. Though she's voting Republican because she loves Palin. :D

And you're right on all accounts, except that it's not a debate, it's a reality. Corporate echelon get richer and the labor class get poorer.

Dude, I was trying to help you here.
