CAIN LET HIM LIVE: Jon Cain and Saint John

Edit: I had a longer review typed but there was a f-ck up, so you get the condensed version now.
Cheap Trick and Heart were good.
Journey was great. A little road weary but still brought it. Deen is a monster and Arnel is a ball of energy. Arnel makes me nervous with those jumps and he needs to be careful going off to the side of a WET stage. He nearly took a fall the first time when he got back to centerstage. After that, he played around with it and intentionally slided across the stage.
I may retype the longer review on Monday but I'm too pissed off right now to retype it.

The picture was actually taken at Arnel's meet and greet. Jon was cool enough to stop by and sign some autographs and take a few pictures. He was genuinely happy to be there and stayed longer than Arnel did. Both guys were incredibly gracious to everyone. Arnel had to (understandably) leave to go get vocally prepared for the show. The meet and greet was during Heart's set. Jon's security guard said "Time to go Jon." Jon replied "Hold on...I need a few more minutes." He stayed and made sure everyone got what they wanted signed and/or a picture with him. He was incredibly pleasant and talked to a lot of fans.
Arnel seemed a bit tired. You could see the rigors of the road in his eyes. He was all smiles and his usual pleasant self, but you could see a guy longing for home. The show was spectacular. Not Arnel's finest vocal performance, but still very, very good. At one point, he jumped off of the riser and landed right on Neal.![]()
Neal turned around and looked at Arnel and they both busted out laughing. Probably the coolest moment of the concert. Kind of like a "Well, we knew that was going to happen sooner or later!!!" sort of thing.
Man, does Arnel possess a ton of energy. The man was all over the stage all night...even slipping at one point on the right side of the stage and almost falling. Once he realized that side of the stage was wet he used it like a slip and slide the rest of the night, often running and sliding several feet!!!![]()
Deen Castronovo beat his drums like they robbed his mother last night!!!![]()
The guy has to be the fiercest drummer out there. I don't ever remember anyone beating the skins like he does. He was absolutely incredible last night.
Ross is a damn machine...no one in music quite like him. Honestly, the only guy that didn't seem sort of road weary. It's like Ross isn't human. The guy doesn't sweat or ever look tired!!!
Jonathan Cain sang the Rolie parts on Feeling That Way/Anytime and about 1/3rd of the way through the first song Tito looks at me and says "Oh shit, they're using tapes again!!!"![]()

Jon was that spot on. We actually both took a deep breath when his voice cracked slightly about mid-way through the first song. Those songs sounded great and the crowd loved them!!
Neal was Neal...opening with the SSB and setting the place on fire. He just blazed all night long. If anyone's using tapes it's him!!!![]()

Dude, do you ever miss a fricking note?!?!?!
Neal's worth the price of admission alone.
Overall, I see a somewhat tired band at the finish line of a remarkably successful tour. They are all business onstage and continue to kick MAJOR ass out there, and that's a testament to their proffesionalism. My 8th show last night was every bit as good as my first and these guys continue to impress. The venue had 26,000 people according to the box office and would have sold out had it not been raining all day. I heard major praises for Arnel as I filed out and the merchandise stands were packed. Revelation shirts and CD's were flying off of shelves. This is simply one hell of a band that has been rejuvenated. They need to finish up the tour, recharge their batteries, and come back out and continue to kick ass. Thanks, guys, for a great tour.
I can't help but mention what a great show Cheap Trick and especially Robin Zander out on. Kudos to these guys for continuing to sound absolutely fantastic in concert. The Flame brought the house down!!!
Heart...well, what you can say about these ladies that hasn't already been said. Ann Wilson is the finest vocalist I have EVER seen live. She just kicks major butt. What a voice. She had me shaking my head several times last night. I will see Heart every chance possible. They're so worth it!!!
Over and out,
Dan
