finalfight wrote:The so called production stinks - that drum sound, and barely any bass in the mix! I have yet to warm to the songs too and am even finding Hetfield's voice annoying. This long time fan would currently take Load or St Anger over anything on Death Magnetic. Hell I got more excited about the latest New Kids on the Block album...seriously!
Really great packaging though.

The production on St. Anger is soooo much worse. Death Magnetic isn't the greatest production-wise... but it's definitely better than St. Anger. The only other album that comes to mind with this sort of production is the original release of Nevermore's "Enemies Of Reality". Killer album by the way. Actually, everything Nevermore has ever done has been absolutely amazing. It's really a shame that they're not bigger than they are here in the States. They truly deserve it.

There is no way one can be a fan of New Kids on the Block and consider him/herself a Metallica fan!![]()

The same could be said about Journey.

Danzig and Journey are quite different.
Are you the artist?

True, I like all sorts of music. This weekend I discovered Lou Gramm and am loving Long Hard Look. What a great album.
And yes, that's one of my paintings. I recently left a career in management to pursue life as a 'starving' artist!

The Block is a great album as was Face the Music. I'm not talking about the early work although I would take anything thy have done over the likes of Nickleback and Daughtry.

But we were prepared for St Anger to sound raw as that was the intention.
Death Magnetic apparently had uber producer Rick Rubin at the helm and likely millions of dollars pumped into it but sounds underpowered.
