"I agree completely - I've always felt like Phil's voice almost sounds like it has some kind of "natural" processing on it - so distinctive. Almost like his voice has a natural reverb filter on it or something. It's hard to explain, but I can tell you hear the exact same thing I do."

I remember reading something a long time ago Phil likes to use a real tight slap echo with reverb. The echo is just enough to thicken the voice. Also he has no natural vibrato which makes him sound robotic at times. Very cool actually. ;)

Definitely Marty Balin, Jefferson Starship. Dan Peek, America. I don't know a lot of their music, but one of my all-time favorite songs is Horse With No Name. But his voice is very distinctive.
