OT: Bye Bye to CD media format?

Over the last year, I've been transfering all my cassette tape collection to DVD. In the beginning, I was transfering some stuff to CD, but found that some of my cassettes were longer then 80 minutes, which is the maximum size of most CD's. I got this idea to burn audio only on DVD's. That works out great cause I can get a number of hours of play time on a single DVD. I just play them in my home entertainment equipment.

I read that there's a new technology that the record companies are going to start producing albums on. Wally World is mentioned in this article.

Can't play dvds in the car yet...

I've got a Kenwood stereo and you can hook up a portable USB drive to it. So I've got every CD I've ever owned on it (and I've got hundreds) and it's way cool. Just put it on shuffle and you just hear a bazillion different things. Way cool. I rarely play a CD anymore and I don't even have a tape deck hooked up. Just have to make sure that the USB drive is compatible with the deck.

If it wasn't for my wife, I still wouldn't have a clue what an ipod is. She uses her ipod by hooking it up to her car stereo and then listens to a gazillion songs that she's uploaded into it. I still have lots and lots of cassettes laying around. For this reason, I still got my dinosour Tescam/Teac 246 porta studio hooked up so I can still throw a cassette in at any time.

Yeah, my wife tells me that I should also get one of these ipods cause I could then upload thousands of songs into it like she did. And I tell her that I don't even like a thousand songs.

I'm sure I like 4000 songs, but I play the ones I'm really into over and over until I'm burned out, before I move on. OCD much? :lol:
