Of course they didn't fire Ed Hochuli, nor should they have! Listen, San Diego CLEARLY got fucked by Hochuli blowing his whistle WAY too soon! It doesn't change the fact that he's been a solid official for years, and he's allowed to make a mistake. The bottom line is the guy fucked up, but would NEVER be fired for that. It's not like it was malicious!

John from Boston

For what it's worth, Hochuli is the finest ref the NFL has ever been accustomed to. It's a shame that a judgment call such as this will put dirt on his name for awhile.. esp. if SD misses the playoffs..which my opinion is unlikely. SD should be sitting 2-1 rather than 1-2..and a call and 1 down away from being 3-0. Hochuli has taken his bumps like a man and came right out in a press release saying how bad he fucked up. I don't think we should hold it against the guy too much longer..he's the best the league got.

Should've been a penalty on the helmut-to-earhole hit on Tony Hunt in the Eagles-Stillas game.

Kinda sickening to watch Hunt go limp and drop the ball immediately, a fine is in order.

Yeah I agree. And I bet the league will fine him, even without any penalty being called.

Though I don't think it was intentional.

The refs really screwed the Bears on Sunday. They missed the Tampa Bay lineman punching Oguleye in the head several times and gave Tillman (Bears) the penalty after breaking it up after awhile. It would've been 4th down inside their own 5 punting the ball, instead Tampa got a 1st down and wound up driving the field for the win.

I wasn't thinking about that song recently. That reminds me of the Wannie era.
