Ah, that's a beautiful love story. Maybe Jonathan can write a love ballad in honor of that fateful meeting.

Hierarchy of Misery arguments are a collosal waste of time. Someone, somewhere always has it worse than whoever's story is under discussion. That other people are worse off or are faring better under similar circumstances doesn't negate someone's personal struggles, and using that kind of logic as an excuse to ridicule folks for showing compassion is just ... silly.

Arnel's living in a farie tale, sure, but those tales are always riddled with dragons, trolls, evil sorcerers, nefarious plots, and all sorts of other of other terrors. I'm rooting for the little hero in this one.

Yeah, what Linda said...:D Truthfully, I always appreciate and share your points of view. Thanks. Fame and fortune is nothing if you have no one to share it with.

I don't think anyone knew (except me of course  )Arnel would be so embraced and garner such attention. The bill was a factor in the large crowds, but let's not forget that Cheap Trick often plays for free and Heart has been on the festival circuit on and off for quite a few years. The bottom line is that Arnel was a smash hit this summer. I think the success of the album, tour, and Arnel will allow them some flexibility when it comes to touring domestically again and you'll see a lot easier tour schedule. Probably the same amount of time with fewer dates. I have a feeling the Asian leg of the tour is going to be extensive. They'll be in Australia, too.

That would be fantastic! Can only hope they make it to Adelaide, 'cause I'll be there if they do!

Heh heh, any of you mob get over here for that leg, the party's at mine!

I've seen them at free fests. Nothing wrong with that, but it shows that they're not a major draw.

Sacrifices??? Are you alright dude? You make it sound like the guy is sleeping in a tent in the middle of Iraq! Arnel joins Journey, finally makes some real money (presumably), gets a free laptop from Neal (how generous), and now he's a fucking martyr

John from Boston

No one said he was a martyr. He said he could sympathize with him. Sorry that not everyone is as strong willed and cold hearted as John from Boston.

So our military personnel are all 'strong willed' & 'cold hearted'?
Again, go talk to a Veteran about being away from family...with low pay & hostile environments.
I understand being homesick, but it's never as bad as you think.

AP has it made. Period.
Half a mill for a few months of 'misery'. Jeez. We should all be so lucky.

On mark as usual.

What I wouldn't trade to have SP's (or AP's) voice, front this band and rake in the big bucks. Let alone be immortalized by recording a hit cd.

I'm not an expert on the Pacific Rim, but by "extensive" I'm guessing 10-15 shows at the most. Perhaps 3 shows in Manila, a few in Hong Kong, and then on to Japan. Is Bangkok a possibility? Can any of our Asian friends weigh in? Then off to see Drew in Australia.

Thanks for sharing this story Dan. Home is where the heart is, really. I emphatize with Arnel. I do feel homesick at times and I am a mere 1 1/2 hours away by flight..add 2 hours for road traffic . Not to mention I go home (Manila) every week. There are times, when you simply long for your family, friends and familiarity of your surroundings.
As for the Asian leg. My thinking would be 1 show Guam, 2 for Manila, 1 Hong Kong, 1 Japan , Australia: 1 for Sydney, 1 for Melbourne (Adelaide folks can go to Melbourne). Though, Australia's Gold Coast is worth considering.
If Autsralia would not be included, they could return to the Philippines to hit the beaches (hope I spelled it correctly as the other spelling has different connotation...LOL) for a chance to get to know Arnel and the Philippines more. Just my thoughts though....

I would think they would do more than one show in Japan. They have had a quite a bit of success there in the past, more so than anywhere else in Asia.

John, I think cancelling the winter tour is a good sign and the beginning of them understanding the rigours of singing the journey catalogue. I really think that they have learned from past experiences and mistakes.

So they finally have learned their lesson in the twilight of the bands life. What a shame, I can't really see them being around much longer then 5 more years, they might as well relax on this final run.

I totally agree, and if they stick to what they say. I might respect them again. Time will tell. Azoff might flash them big bucks to pimp out there princables and be whores and do a winter tour and kill Arnel and make a few bucks.I trust they wont do that again [like they did the last 8 years} If they change their ways, take a break, come back strong next year,I will support them, and follow them like I used to [5 concerts per year}It is up to Journey.I hope they do the right thing this time, i will support them totally. If they choose the old retarded way I will trash them evey chance I get. I pray they will do it right this time. If Friga really meant when he said Arnel makes me a better person. he better damn site prove it. If you are a man Friga show it ,and respect your lead singer.Want to go a year again with out one??i dont think so!! Thats all I got to say
