Anyone Know About this CD?

Postby ForeverInBlue » Sat Sep 27, 2008 1:48 pm

The power and passion that Steve Perry has in his delivery is what won me over to be a huge fan.

To me it look's like a bootleg of a live concert done up into a pretty package. Too expensive, you can probably download the same show from a soundboard site.

This is a cracking show.
The date of September 2nd 1978 has always been a little suspect.
Its an FM Radio recording, so quality is very good.

DO NOT buy it though. Never buy these things. There are a fair few places where you can obtain all this kind of stuff and for free.

PM me if you want any links to good sites to obtain stuff like this.

No, this was actually a show for the school benefit as mentioned. I have the bootleg, probably taped from the radio broadcast, as WS said -- copied and passed around among fans. The ebay description said the one for sale is not a bootleg, so possibly this is a master recording made by the original radio station.

It says the seller is in Wanatah, Indiana...isn't the owner of Perryville website from that general area? Think she had a lot of memorabilia.

I've never been into buying from eBay 'cause when the bidding fever hits some people the price triples for pretty useless items.

All they have to do is ask around. And as Wykked Sensation said, it is available on the net for free. :D

That's very true. :D Good call. Hell, most of my stuff I didn't even have to ask... a lot of awesome people have hooked me up not even expecting things back... and I've totally paid it forward (and naturally, repaid those who gave me awesome stuff). :D 8)

Exactly, BJG. That is how it is supposed to be. I have never, ever, sold anything related to Perry or Journey. It isn't right. What I have, I have given it to others in the past, and I know they have passed it on too. :D

No one should be paying for this stuff in my opinion. Bootlegs are to be freely traded.

Three of the best Journey bootlegs are off of Japanese television. Not copied performances from official VHS or DVD releases.

Hey, I am sure some are great, but all can lead to a lawsuit. Buyer beware! :D

Here ya go: http://www.yousendit.com/download/bVlBN ... QnVGa1E9PQ

Here is the track listing and pretty decent artwork: http://www.angelfire.com/music5/rubicon ... namps.html

The only differences are that the drum solo isn't a separate track, its just on the end of WITS, and the same goes for the "Little Ditty" which is at the end of "She Makes Me Feel Alright". Enjoy! :)

The only artwork that is the same on my CD is the one with the light bground. This CD is not a bootleg.

Thanks for the links. Did you see mine in the WYLAW thread? Page 3. I think it came out pretty decent (I must say). :)

Haven't gotten round to Alien but did see "Nighthawks" with Stallone and Rutger Haur again. I think Hopkins molded Lecter a bit after Wolfgar.

Of course its a bootleg.
It doesnt matter how pretty the cover may look.
Have the band Journey, their management, or Sony music given authority to release this recording? No they haven't. Its a bootleg.
There is also a huge difference with aquiring an illegal show such as this one. If you get it for free, and then trade it or indeed share it for free, then you are not taking any monies from the band. If you are selling this shit, thats an entirely different ball game, as you are making money of of it, and that is blatantly wrong.

Don't buy this stuff people. Your throwing good money away when you can get it for free and with a cracking cover to go with it.

I somehow totally missed this post. A few people I used to trade with felt that based on the setlist, this date was kinda suspect. I thought the same until the remastered "Infinity" CD came out, and based on the '78 tour itinerary included in the booklet, they were in San Francisco on 9/2/78. Very odd set for that late in the tour, but it apparently is official.

I've seen what looks like a mass produced album (lp kind) advertised on collector sites. Who produced it I have no idea.

Here's a pic of one off a page of other boots and that one's on there too.
