OT: "Come on up for the RISING..."

Postby X factor » Tue Sep 30, 2008 12:37 am

So I know alot of you are gonna hate this idea (as we've discussed it before!) but I'm LOVIN this!!!!

"GOOD EVENING, AMERICAN FOOTBALL ENTHUSIASTS!"
Bruce is ready for some football
So we've got a concert date for 2009, and it's a big one. After months of rumors, the NFL made it official last night, announcing that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be the halftime entertainment at 2009's Super Bowl XLIII. In recent years the Stones have done it, U2, Paul McCartney, Prince and Tom Petty... and now, some three-and-a-half decades later, Mike Appel's plan comes to fruition. Super Bowl Sunday is February 1, 2009; the game and the halftime show, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL, will be broadcast worldwide in more than 230 countries and territories.

So, when I watch my TITANS crush whichever fodder the NFC throws at them, I'll get to rock out to THE BOSS at Halftime!!! Life, for me, will be GOOD!!!

btw- I'll still argue this is a good choice. Bruce does really well with the working class, football types. You might all think his concerts are filled with what Colin Cowherd would call " left wing, dot EDU guy", but you'd be wrong. Bruce has quite a large Red State following. They just BOO and holler for BADLANDS when he gets all political live!

St John, my kevlar is on, and I await your slings and arrows! :D

Bruce was in the stands at the Boston College football game on Saturday. His son attends Boston College and he apparently loves football, so I'm sure he'll have a blast performing at the SB. One other thing...The Titans aren't going to the Super Bowl! You're a bit premature with that prediction!

You'll be "holding out" the rest of your life for that DREADFUL matchup! The NFL would NEVER EVER EVER want that matchup in the Super Bowl! Miami and Atlanta are, and always have been the two worst sports cities in America! Only family and close friends (and apparently you) would even tune in to watch that!

sure i would....just like I tune into each SB regardless of the cities represented. Think I really care about NY or NE??? No, but I had one hell of a party and a good time watching it.

Please no Bruce. Viewership would go down for this halftime show. I hope the NFL does not consider this.

There's no considering...it's a done deal.
And while some of ya'll may not like him, he's still one of the biggest draws in the world. Saying viewership would go down is a bit silly! If the NFL didn't lose viewers for Justin Timberlake TWICE (once w/ N'stink, and once with Janet) then I think the Boss will do just fine!

Yes I just read the press release. I believe nysnc was one of the highest viewership since Aerosmith was on the same stage.
