I had much of my small intestine removed a few years ago due to a pancreas problem. The best thing about that (outside of the fact that I am alive) is that I can drink, get drunk very fast, and sober up fairly quickly. I commented to my wife that last night was the longest I had stayed drunk in years. I'm not a big drinker anyway. I can get a full buzz with half glass of wine and then maintain it through sips. Then be sober in 20 minutes. It's wild.
Last night, I had 2 large beers and 3 OJ and Vodka. The 3 drinks were in rapid fashion - as we said, it was frickin hot. I was drunk until I went to sleep. So kinda cool.
Not to make light of your health problem Mike, but you do realize.....Dan is googling up this surgery right now....don't you.

My friends are extremely jealous. It's the positive I have to take away from such a negative experience.
Getting a few PM's from folks about things said in this thread. All I'll say is that I tend to look at people differently. If someone made fun of George Michael right now, I would laugh. Say whatever you want - he strikes me as out there. But Melissa is truly an artist with so much good in her heart. The biggest problem I have with the fan base is that more heterosexuals are not involved because they seem to have pegged her as a "type" of singer. I think her audience, based on her talent, should be more full of all types of individuals. I know people that simply will not listen to her based on her sexual preference. That is absurd to me.
For me, her "Skin" album epitomizes what I am saying. That album moves me. I lived with that disc for a year and felt all of it. I didn’t have to stop and think that she was speaking of someone that is the same sex as here. Her words are meaningful period, not just meaningful to some.
Add in the fact that she has done incredible charitable work, is very giving to her fans, and puts herself out there in a vulnerable way on stage every night and I think she deserves the respect of us all. Because she isn't one that has to lip-sync or steal songs or fake her way through a tour. She has some serious singing and writing ability.
By the way, I do not in any way judge her talent based on the fact that she survived cancer. I judge her character on the way she had to publically deal with that illness and how she did not let it define her. I’m sure she had her private moments, but I have been inspired how she always lets people know how great she feels. She never played the “feel sorry for me” card.
