Don't have any Neal cd -- just some compilations of videos where he plays/sings those songs. Not bad ... pretty catchy tunes.

Do have 1 of Jon's -- piano something. Talk about snoozefest ....

lol........

 It's called Piano With a View ... looked it up last night. If Jon just relied on his piano playing for a living, he'd be out on the streets.
That was uncalled for..Piano With A View is excellent..Jonathan Cain is an incredibly talented musician. It kills me how some will knock peoples talents because they...1) Don't like them personally due to what they've "heard" about said person without any personal knowledge of them. 2) Will knock them because that style of music is not their cup of tea, ...especially those that haven't got musical ability themselves...some who even appear to be tone deaf. I doubt that any musician on here would knock him on his talent....if his piano playing is not your thing then fine but it doesn't mean he is not a skilled piano player..and apparently he's made a good living at it too.

Phyllis, you and I never had any problems before. This is a thread about what people like ... opinions. Some people said FTLOSM was a snoozefest. I have Jon's PianoWithAView. I didn't like it. Jon is a great songwriter/musician (no question). I was referring to him relying on just piano playing. Again, my opinion, using a joke ... which is the norm with posters here. I use "being out on the street" a lot in my personal conversations. I turn it on myself, in fact. "If my family relies on me working, we'll be out on the streets." (haha). Sorry you took offense. Peace.

Well duh! Message boards are nothing but opinions, not just this thread, and I have the same right as anyone else to give one so I gave you mine..
...and heres some more of my thoughts on the matter... you just contradicted yourself...if there is no question of him being a great musician, then he certainly would have no trouble relying on his talents to keep him off the street...done pretty well for himself by primarily tinkling the ivory's last I heard...and there are numerous piano players keeping a roof over their head by it without nearly the talent he has..and by only playing the piano..thats the point, not wether you dig his music or not.

So you were joking.."jokes are the norm"...well ok....let me sum this up by using your own words that you said in another thread tonight since the circumstances mirror each other...
You said to another poster, and I quote....

Now just replace the SP with JC...get my drift?....see...your joke wasn't funny either. 8)

I did not, and have never, used venom against any bandmember, past or present – or toward other fans. It is not in my personality or nature. Sorry you don’t see the distinction between my posts and that other fella’s. There’s nothing more I can say, I guess.

from a musician's point of view, JC is a brilliant and gifted artist. he is classically trained and possesses virtuostic skills. 'course that doesn't translate to $$$$$$$$ all the time. :? for a lot of us. :P

his music maybe not suit some tastes but that does not diminish his talent.

that's not jmho. that's fact. 8)

He is gay, and full of himself, and sings like a frog, and has a double chin. All that aside I respect and envy his musical talent.I listened to some Bad English yesterday, and could clearly tell it was him playing. There was some good stuff on there, and some cheesy what do you except? Its Friga. the next pole tito starts, the Malibu is getting egged

Haha! I know you didn't mean anything by it and just abbreviated...but it just struck me funny because your the first to shorten Blueskies to BS...hahaha!....well, thats ok ... I guess I can be quite full of myself at times just like everyone else! but the difference is I'm not a BS'er, just when it's obvious joking, occasionally... so I'll call it like I see it... don't all of the time though, because who has that kinda time?..Ha!...as much of it that gets thrown on this board I would get nothing else done if I responded to all of it! Hahahahahahaha! ..again..I know it wasn't intentional on your part to have a meaning...I just got a good laugh out of being referred to as BS! hahahaha!

anyhoo...Annie thought of it as having a problem with me, but I have no problem with her at all....and I don't think she meant to harm in what she said....I gave my opinion, it was discussed..bing,boom, bam...now we're movin' on!
....to be honest, I really didn't check out that other thread entirely....I had just looked at the last page and quickly skimmed over it...so in all fairness since I don't want it to appear I was singling anyone out I'll go back and check it out. 8)

Come on stewie, your routine is so played out it's gotten as stale as a 6 month old loaf of bread...your becoming a one hit wonder.....the best and longest lasting comedians use generalizations about the whole human condition and how ridiculous and funny we all can be and they use self deprecation as well...the best don't ridicule individuals ....they might make light of familiar situations but not in a way which ridicules their families....look at Carlin, Cosby, or Pryor for example..I haven't seen all of their work but from what I have I don't remember ever hearing them ridicule any one individual...even when it was political it was said about policy and not personal one on one ridicule ...they didn't use people in that way just to get a laugh...there's a difference between ridiculing a person and making light of something someones done or said...

....hey..I know your just joking and been having fun with this but you know that JC is not gay....have you considered how he, his wife or his children could be affected by that being said?...see, things tend to have a ripple effect.....you may think the small pebbles you keep throwing have no effect...but they are being spread out to a larger body on the internet..... if something is said often enough it starts to be believed as fact by some who don't know otherwise...
I figure JC has developed a very thick skin by now and is not sweatin' what one guy is saying about him on a message board but , he's also not on here to refute it, is he...
..I have laughed at other things you've said...you can be a very funny guy when you make it more generalized, self deprecating, or kidding around with your buddies on here...see thats different if it's one on one... they can respond back to you and let you know and the rest of us as well if they find it funny or if they think you've crossed the line into just plain meaness with them or not.....jmo's.....take it or leave it. 8)

All three, are amazing in their own way; however, all five were at their greatest together. If we can believe in such a thing as fate then it was meant to be for Schon, Perry, Valory,Smith and Cain to come together and create if only for a moment, a sound so prefectly balanced that it weaved it's way into the very hearts and souls of so many fans of every age, gender, and every race. The key to that awesome sound was and still is the remarkable Steven Ray Perry, I decided one day while at work to play the greatest hits cd; some of the older nurses knew right off who it was some of the younger nurses and cnas didn't but what they did was gather around my desk and stood and listened until the entire cd finished playing. After one timidly asked " Miss Annie who was that?" My reply along with some of the other older nurses was (while laughing) "That is Journey one of the biggest and greatest bands of all times and that man singing and that man playing the guitar is the reason why" again last night I played the cd while doing my paperwork, when i looked up i was surrounded by twentysomething babies they had moved their desk chairs over to my unit and set quietly listening to journey music while i completed my work. :)

Hi Annpea. Funny, my name is Annie, too. This story reminds me of the first time I played the GH dvd, which was my first real exposure to their music. Go figure ... I seemed to recall hearing those songs on the radio back in the day ... but never had it sink in ... until now, years later way past their heyday in 2005. I sat there mesmerized by SP's singing and charisma, their music and melodies so captivating ... watched that dvd every night for 1 month straight ... until I became a certifiable, card-carrying perryloon.

And, people call me "Miss Annie" all the time, lol.

Hi, Annie please to meet you :) lol now please don't tell me you were born in November also. Yes I confess I am a perryholic and i refuse to seek any rehabilitation for it. This condition has even affected my marriage to the point that anytime I am listening to Journey at home my poor husband just sits aimlessly in his recliner holding his remote close to his heart repeating over and over " remote if it wasn't for you i'd have no one; for i've lost my wife to Journey"  I swear Annie one evening saw him shaking his fist at my Journey/perry posters while eating a bowl of noodles and loudly screaming " You evil @##@##&'s if not for you i'd be eating a real dinner and not these @@#$#$% noodles.J/K

Yes indeed, sometimes I laugh at his antics and wild storytelling until i'm crying. his fravorite subjects are coworkers, childhood friends and his two overweight girl cousins. He can change his voice to sound just like the person he's talking about. We've been married twenty- one years, I had three kids and he had four kids when we married in 1987. So we had two eleven year olds, two nine year olds, two eight year olds and one six year old; four boys and three girls. His name is Alvin and there's only one number difference in the series of numbers that make up our birthdate, month and year. He was raised in the South and I was raised in the North. I moved South in Nov. of 1986 and married him in May of 1987. I've been laughing every since we said "I do".

Sorry to cut out on you earlier. Had to close up shop and go home. Speaking about husbands ... my poor hubby of 21 yrs (we actually have been together 25 yrs) doesn't know what to make of this fascination with an old RnR band and their particular lead singer. Thinks I'm going through a mid-life crisis -- "hoarding all this '80s music .. listening to it day and night." And ... my teenage boys ... well, what's Mom doing in her room all day long listening to "old folks music" -- hehe!

that's not jmho. that's fact.

Ill leave it, ive noticed your diggs on my comments a couple times. My posts have not been mean, and you have been to uptight lately, you should check yourself out,you might have bean a little mean yourself. That's ok, I had closed down too!. Yes Isn't it weird how Steve Perry's mind controlling plan has worked, I can see him now sitting on his throne smiling with a sly smirk Then bursting into a diabolical laugh, throwing his head back and yelling an overly dramatic "Mines,Mines Their all Mines I rule the world'' (cough, cough) Oh! James (gasp, cough) bring my lemon and honey tea (snort, snort, gasp gasp) before i beat the shit out of you with one of my many black and gold framed platinum records" ( No actual personal assistants were injured during the making of this tale)

Neal

Postby NoMoreTails » Mon Oct 06, 2008 1:08 am

In my opinion Neal's solo and side project material is as great as his work with Journey. He has been active nearly every year either recording and releasing Journey, solo, or side project material or touring with Journey or some other band whether it be Bad English, Hardline, Paul Rodgers or Abraxas Pool, rather than just " (I've) been thinking about writing and recording." As for those who base their opion on "hits", Perry has had only two and a half solo hits ever, and those came on the strength of Journey's popularity. The general public even seems to think the sickening "Oh Sherry" is a Journey song, sadly. He hasn't had a solo career in a decade and really only two releases ever unless you count (Two)Greatest Hits + Some Unreleased Crap Sony Thought Sucked . Neal by a land slide.

[/quote] Aren't they all living off the popularity of Journey to this very day. And anything Perry did on the solo wasn't going to be to sucessful as long as Sony wanted him back with Journey to keep the cashflow going from the popularity of Journey with Perry leading it. Back then it was the record labels who called the shots as they do today in most cases. IMO If Sony had wanted Perry to have a sucessful solo career he would have had one. But apparently they didn't want that and he didn't get it; he got screwed just enough to hopefully send him running back to Journey which IMO backfired on all of them. Now as for Neal he is amazing yes indeed. If you notice those sideline bands didn't last beyond a few barely there albums and especially with Hardline (the one with his two ex brothers- in- law) barely getting out of the gate before the record label dropped them allegedly due to Neal's demanding and somewhat overbearing personality at that time. IMO Jon Cain hasn't done enough beyond Journey as well to allow him a very sucessful solo career as well.

A lot of what you say I agree with SteveW2. But the Babys had some hits. I don't know much about them, just from searching out music from back in that time. But two songs I love off YouTube are Everytime I think of you and the song You and Isn't It Time.
