OMG I'm so glad you weren't around when I watched that movie! :P
A friend of mine told me about when she made the mistake of telling a friend that she'd be watching The Ring that night.
That friend told another friend who proceeded to call her when she'd finished watching it, whisper "Seven days" and hang up.

Holy Shit. just saw Emily Rose a month ago. believe me that I turned the radio on to keep my mind wandering off to what creepy imagination that movie gave me. not to mention that I watched that film alone in the dark in my bedroom, late at night.

The Ring was awesome the first time I watched it. I liked the scene where the girl came out of the tv screen. totally surprised me. it was also the only movie that made me enter the girls' lavatory since my girl was so freaked out and doesnt want to do her thing alone. but honestly, I was also creeped out myself.

After watching 'The Ring II' (Japanese original) I was even scared to take a shower in the middle of the afternoon!

Coincidentally, I very stupidly finished watching Emily Rose at almost 3.00am, a time which has great significance in the movie. Needless to say it was a very long night of no sleep!

HAHA ! the 3 AM thing was creepy enough to imagine. I suggest that you set your time at 4 AM. lol.

That is funny too! My sister loved scary movies when we were little, I loved scaring her afterwards! She watched a movie about a killer severed hand, and I crawled into her room, laid on the floor and slipped my hand under the cover and made it look like it was dashing at her. She screamed bloody murder! LOL! Great memories! I know that sounds mean, but I did not want to watch them and she made me. Payback can be so cruel! LOL! We still laugh about it to this day!

I was not a big fan of Emily Rose although that first Grudge was very scary. My daughters still have nightmares if I walk down the hall making that noice she creaped out. Wrong Turn was very suspense filled, you wont turn off the TV. I dont know, I guess Im more of a fan of the horrors you dont have to think about so much.....Michael Myers is still the king. Leatherface, Freddy, Jason are certainly part of the royal court. I love the 80's horrors also. The Ring is awesome, in fact my 17 year old daughter Jessie is palying Somarra in my Haunted House....

I'm weird here. I think the gore and shock horror flicks are base. I love a good suspense-thriller that twists your mind, though. But all the hacker-slasher stuff can be checked at the door with me.

lol...someone did that to me, but I hadn't watched the movie so my response was something like "Why the fuck are you whispering and what the hell is going to happen in seven days?" Still haven't watched it as it looks stupid. Is it worth watching?

Is it just me, or do movies where 'whatever' could ACTUALLY happen feel alot more scarier?

Also, enough with the scary-looking girl with the long hair in her face - routine....been played to death....

And another thing:

Getting pretty tired of the old cat jumping out in suspense situations...or other cast members 'pretending' to be the actual evil person in the movie.

Dog Soldiers is a great werewolf flick done on a cheap budget.
28 days later is another good one, too bad the sequel sucked.

I couldn't be left alone in a room with a TV for a week after watching that movie. I just had to keep reminding myself that I hadn't actually watched the killer video. :P

Horror stories always seem scarier to me when there's a child involved. Is it just me?

Also, anything that involves puppets, especially ventriloquist dummies. They didn't used to bother me but now I can't stand them.

You should watch Lady in White.

Also, early Jody Foster, the Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane.

God now I'm confused. I watched the original, which I believe to be 28 Days Later. Totally rocked.

I thought the sequel, 28 Weeks Later, was one of the best zombie films since the original 1979 Dawn of the Dead.
28 Days was a rehash of ideas from better and older films. Namely, Day of the Dead.

I think it was excellent, HOWEVER, I reserve that right for the original Resident Evil. Cause Milla was so fucking hot. Damn that Paul S. Anderson!

My kid loved it too. I guess It's like Alien and Aliens. I prefer less big budget action shots and more jump moments. 28 weeks later does have some great action sequences.

I recently caught a French film called "Inside."
Not a fan of hyperbolic movie blurbs, but this is the best slasher since the original Halloween. Hands down.

28 Days might have been a rehash, but still scared the pants off me! Only time I've ever left a cinema too scared to walk home. Partly because I know the areas in London they filmed in very well, and the total stillness just freaked me out! The sequel was great too; scary with a believable scenario, and one of the few horror sequels that didn't suck arse.

Same here - I find most of the slasher type movies ridiculous and sometimes comical, but not scary.

Had to really think about the few movies that have ever really frightened me (I don't scare easily  ).
A few that come to mind:

Burnt Offerings
The Omen
Black Christmas
and ditto to whoever said the original "The Haunting". That one scared the crap outta me as a very young child - but I think it also gave me my passion for good "horror" stories. Love a well-done vampire flick too  .

As far as I'm concerned, you can't even touch Halloween I, and amazingly II was pretty good as far as sequels go. More recent ones that I like are 1408, Wrong Turn, Hostel I , Descent, Zodiac, Hatchet, and Vacancy. Vacancy was pretty scary.

Among my favorites are...

The Nightmare On Elm Street series.
The Halloween series.
The Friday The 13th series.
The Scream series.

I especially love the individual films...

A Nightmare On Elm Street (the first one)
A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 (Dream Warriors)
Halloween (the original)
Friday The 13th VII (the New Blood)
Psycho (the original)
The Birds
Urban Legend (the first one)
Scream (the first one)
Scream 3
I Know What You Did Last Summer (the first one)
When A Stranger Calls (the remake)
Carrie (the original)

I have only been scared by one movie in my life, and that was the original Helter Skelter. And that was because I was 8 years old the first time I watched it, and because it was about real killings, not just make believe.

I had always wanted to see the original When A stranger Calls, but I wound up seeing the remake first. I then saw the original and I was disappointed in it. I thought the cop was the only actor in the movie that did a good job. And I can't get the image of Carol Kane as Simpka out of my mind.
