Likes the Dodgers "now"? He can't like more than one team at a time? He's from California... what's the big shock? I get cyndy's point about rival teams... you wouldn't catch me at a Sox game wearing a Sox hat... but you also wouldn't catch me there in a Cubs hat either... that could get you shot. But wouldn't he be drawing more attention wearing a Giants hat at a Dodgers playoff game? "Hey! Who's the fuck in the Giants hat? Pelt him with peanuts!"

Poor Espee. No matter what he does... controversy.
(if he was spotted at a Dodgers/Cubs game in a Giants hat, there'd be a thread bitching about THAT)

You, too, are missing the point. Under no circumstances should a Giants fan ever wear a Dodgers hat. Seriously, if someone offered me $500 to put on a White Sox hat for the day I wouldn't do it. I'm a Cubs fan. Period. And to correct Annie, "liking the Dodgers now" is NOT his prerogative. Not if he wants to continue to call himself a Giants fan. It's just as absurd as saying you like Hitler and Jews.

I hope you're being funny. I'm not missing the point, bro, I'm just disagreeing with its purported importance. There are bigger things to worry about in life than what hat Steve Perry wore to a baseball game. Who cares if he switch-hits what team he wants to support. The Giants blew it, so if he's following another team in the playoffs, its hardly a capital offense. But at least he was kind enough to give you something to bitch about.

Dead serious.
bluejeangirl76 wrote:I'm not missing the point, bro, I'm just disagreeing with its purported importance.

This is all relatively speaking.
bluejeangirl76 wrote:Who cares if he switch-hits what team he wants to support.

I'm just pointing out that whether he likes it or not he's not a Giants fan anymore.
bluejeangirl76 wrote:The Giants blew it, so if he's following another team in the playoffs, its hardly a capital offense.

He had 7 other teams to choose from.

I don't think so. He said he kept an eye out during the game for Perry but didn't see him. His text went something like this: "Can it get any fucking worse for me? I'm at the game in LA, the Cubs are losing, they're playing Journey music and they just showed Steve Perry on the fucking jumbotron."

To note for the readers, our friend isn't a Journey fan. The funny thing for me would've been if our friend would have gone up to Perry and got blown off. You don't disrespect Ferg especially if he doesn't like you in the first place. What he would've said to Perry had this occured would've been priceless.

Add to that that he was drunk and we could have definitely had a newspaper worthy incident on our hands had he seen Perry.

I stop wondering. However, if the White Sox somehow advance, his ass better be in Chicago. I saw a ton of Don't Stop Believin' signs at the game yesterday on TV.

Good grief; he can:
1. give his seats away
2. get better tickets from the owners
3. dye his hair red and put on a fake chin and fat suit and have someone call him "Big Daddy"
4. or stop going to the game.

I'm sorry you're not in tune with the baseball world, and more specifically, rivalries. But I'll dumb it down for you.  What Perry did was the equivalent of the church choir singing "Highway To Hell" during the stations of the cross.

Posted from popular Dodgers blog: http://www.sonsofstevegarvey.com/

THE ENTERTAINMENT
Cheers to whoever assembled the between-innings videos shown on Diamond Vision. They were much better than the regular-season bits and helped keep the crowd fired up.
Jeers to the low-wattage celebrity quotient featured on Diamond Vision: Vince Vaughn (wearing a Cubs cap and summarily booed), Billy Crystal (wearing a custom-made black Dodger championship cap—now there's a true Yankees fan), former Journey lead singer Steve Perry (recognized after "Don't Stop Believin' " was again shoved down our throats—this has Charles Steinberg written all over it) and "Entertainment Tonight" host Mary Hart (who, to her credit, seems like a big Dodger fan based on her ubiquitous presence in the Dugout Club behind home plate).

edit...Steinberg is the director of marketing for the Dodgers...in charge of making Chavez Ravine a fan-friendly place. He held a similar position with the Red Sox for six years. I believe he one of those credited for bringing the song "Sweet Caroline" into Fenway Park as a fan theme song they sing during every game.

I don't need it dumbed down for me, thanks much. I understand baseball and sports and rivalries just fine. But you started a thread about something as trivial as Steve Perry going to a baseball game and you're demonizing a guy you don't even know for wearing a fucking hat. And you're calling me dumb?

So much hate... what did he do, beat up your mom with a White Sox bat?

It's not trivial at all. He's the most recognizable member of the band and this is a Journey board. And whether or not I "know him" is completely irrelevant. I didn't "know" Jeffrey Dahmer, but I can still you he was a sick asshole. Just like I can tell you Perry broke some unwritten fan rules when, as a purported Giants fan, he wore a Dodgers hat. Have a nice fucking day.
